Bots are personified all the time. I see no harm in doing the same here. And it baffles me why so many people want to try to force others NOT to do it. I respect those who don’t want to use the name Emily by using ML when speaking with them. I will never understand why those same people feel the need to force their perspective on the ones who like using Emily. Especially when at least one Niantic employee has said the name is cute and used it himself, i see no need to police others’ use of it.
Everyone just use the term you want to use and stop trying to tell the others they are wrong.

then please add the fact that some of us hate it to the glossary
i have never told anyone not to use that name. i have said i think it adds to the confusion and will not use it myself unless told that is the official name by niantic. we just had a person mention that they forgot that niantic has actual human reviewers in addition to the ai one

Call it Emily , ML, don’t call it anything, Steve or whatever you like.
I don’t see how expressing my opinion on it on any way forces anyone else to do anything.
If other people want to continue to personify it, nothing I say is going to force them stop, even though I believe it confuses people who aren’t familiar with it and ultimately makes it harder for people who use it to be understood outside of a niche community.

Most of my locals call it Emily and I’ve encountered others in Central London groups saying the same and I’ve heard people on twitch use it so I don’t think anyone is confused.
Thats not glossary type information. That’s commentary. The glossary entry adequately explains that it is not a universally used term.
This reads like it is the preferred term to me. Guess it is time to stop using the forum. Was fun while it lasted,.
Anyway… Can y’all stop derailing my thread so I can find out how Emily is effecting submissions, please.
Maybe try Discord or start your own thread if you want to talk about Emily .

My experience with MichaeL is low.
Photo submission he takes in 90% and accepted faster than I can press submit.
On every other stuff he did nothing - no fast rejection, no fast acception. Common process

Also, go translate Machine Learning into different languages. ML is not going to work for every language!
