Really emily?
So, I’m not in charge of training the ML, nor do I know the rules it has been taught. But I have learned since interacting on this forum that different languages have very different rules about capitalization. I have no idea how the ML has been trained to figure out which capitalization rules should be observed. While this looks odd to our eyes, it is not the end of the world. People interacting with the wayspot can understand the name and find it.
I see, that makes a lot of sense. I wasn’t annoyed or anything, it just brought a little smile to my face, which made me want to share it. I guess my amusement didn’t quite hit the mark. Thank you for your insight and I’m sorry if I offended anyone.
I don’t understand what’s going on, here.
It looks like you are in England and have submitted a title edit in English (which happens to be the default language for Niantic’s services), to improve capitalization.
So far, so good. Now, Niantic has captured your edit for review by Machine Learning? That should be straightforward. English grammar tells us to capitalize Brady Street (always) and title case should make Play Park capitalized, as well.
Is somebody saying you should not have submitted your edit? Why not? Why would this offend anyone? I hope your edit goes through quickly, but if it doesn’t, the team should be notified so they can find out why not.
I don’t think any of us understand how Machine Learning handles this stuff, but yours looks like the type that should have been shown to the machine thousands of times to establish a baseline. If the machine can’t come to a correct decision it shouldn’t be allowed to evaluate them until it is up to the task.
Your picture shows it In Voting (Niantic). That could be ML, or could be manual by staff (contractors, probably in India).
Did it resolve? Was it accepted?
Yes!
