So I get the nomination is of a mural on the youth centre wall. Do you accept both photos as they may both be true. One is just a close up.
Google Maps street view shows a different image
Anyhow my opinion is the close up does not count… As it does not show the whole or at least show the mural in context… And the close up could be anything anywhere…
Thoughts please

Looks like the mural got changed over time
I would vote that all pictures meet critiera because the photos themselves are fine. We don’t get enough information to tell if they are real or up to date, so we can’t judge on that

I would accept both photos. It’s nice to see then and now photos over time. Locals can thumbs up their preference.
But I cannot tell if the close up photo is actually here… So I cannot say if right. At least with the longer one I can tell where it is from
If I could see the close up in either streetview or the other photos then I woukd be happy with it. If I couldn’t verify it was part of the mural no.

To help me reviewing…
I think the map should allow to see the nom in location and not just be a map. I have to go to google and search it…
I would like to see the original nom with supporting photo to help validate support the photo I am being asked to review
So I did my search and could not verify based on both that search and the close up image… . so I rejected close up…
That’s completely understandable. Given your time constraints and the fact that name and photo edits don’t impact your Wayfinder profile rating, an educated guess is reasonable. Street murals often change, and while additional verification photos would be ideal, your expectation is justified. When both photos are suitable, local trainers can vote on their preference within the game app.

Wait we are supposed to go googling on new tabs for picture reviews? How do we know streetview is correct too?
I thought we were just supposed to be judging based on photo criteria, ie orientation, licence plates, darkness, which I always thought was wierd
Yes we are assessing the technical aspects as you describe not choosing which is best for example.
I would only go to streetview if there there was an odd situation where it could be from anywhere like this close up example. But I wouldn’t spend a lot of time on it. I wouldn’t feel right saying a photo was technically correct if I couldn’t feel happy it was there and not just someone adding something irrelevant. And streetview might not help at all but I wouldn’t spend time hunting.
I don’t think anyone should feel obliged to do that as the Team haven’t made it straightfoward to do as the location map is not dynamic. So my take from that is they are not expecting that action.
It is a rare situation in my experience. .
You can report it if you think the Team ought to investigate.

That makes sense. And yeah the map provided isnt helpful and they also dont provide the address from what I can see.
I guess I always just wrote it off as “not enough evidence” so assumed Niantic don’t want us to check its real at this stage and went based only on photo guidelines
Yes there are instances when I am left scratching my head.
