Hello.
I have quick question regarding if plques that mention the passing of someone are ok to be stops. I did already report them on Niantc Wayfarer support but so far nothing has happened and I’m not so sure if they are ok or if they are actually ok to be in the game.
Hello and Welcome,
I would treat these the same as Memorial Benches…
“Memorial benches can only be eligible under the criteria for exploration if they are dedicated to a notable figure and that notability is described in the nomination.”
Once accepted they can be difficult to get removed as you would need to prove the the memorial was not for a notable figure.
We don’t know what “evidence” the submitter supplied.
Welcome to the forum.
It would help to see a screenshot, or you can share the location so we can see these on the map. There is no prohibition against plaques naming people who are deceased but there is a prohibition about sensitive locations. You can see if the issue is addressed in Criteria Clarification Collection if you would rather not share.
I have few screenshots from using the map in general. I’m not really sure if they clasify as memorials of notable figures.
First one is of military service man dying from drowning while trying to save bunch of kids that had an accident after jumping from the pier. The second one is close to the sea so I’m guessing memorial for someone who drowned. The third one is written both in Bulgarian and Turkish, someone drowned and the family members with the permission from the local town government placed there the plaque for memorial. Fourth one is the worst one of them all. If you zoom in on the photos and translate it, its described as 2 men dying from drowning after attempting to save two kids from drowning, the kids were saved. The final one is of someone that died most likely from drowning since its close to the beach, the original photos are taken from far away and the plaque has flowers on it as well. Not sure whats written on the plaque.
Niantic has internal removal policies that don’t always match acceptance criteria. I don’t think that a memorial would be removed for the person not being significant enough. These do not appear to be fake, or in sensitive locations, which are two other reasons they have been known to remove Wayspots. That last one looks like it may not have safe pedestrian access, but someone has put flowers there. If there is an issue with safe pedestrian access, they might remove it.
How did you report these? If you use help chat, the answer is in the chat box, not an email. If you lost your help chat history, staff might be able to recover the ticket number for you. If you find that you lose help chat history, you may want to make future reports through the in game or Wayfarer map report options, or use one of the forms linked at the top of the forum.
Thats the thing. I’ve reported many stops around my area. Some were not there and the people who created them didn’t bother to check if they are there or not. Others were duplicated, placed on wrong stops, or being adult locations. I can only report them via the chat of Niantic Wayfarer since if I go in person I can prove them with photos or videos that the stops are having issues. The problem is the stops were created by bunch of people who actively and publicly cheat in the game. I and many others have already reported the issue via the support in-game features but so far Niantic has done nothing. After the stops started getting removed these people started pointing fingers everywhere. The biggest city nearby Burgas is currently having many locations submitted on the daily basis by them so they can recover the lost stops. You can find anything from influencing reviews with code words to on purpose mass accepting stops that are clearly not there or using photos from active stops from completely different areas. No descriptions , no support info whatsoever. They know what to look at since in the Ingress app its visible who has reported the stops and I because of that cannot publicly report stuff from the in-game support.
In other words its not that I cannot prove to Niantic that the locations are fake or no longer there, at schools, duplicated or not permanent/temporary but If they find out who I am, they will follow and they will harrass me. It has happened before to many others in the area, one dude recently got harrassed in game by them for months. Niantic has done nothing about it other than ask us to contact local enforcement which they cannot do anything about it since its not something that affect the player irl.
But hey , thanks for the information. I learned some new stuff.
Aside from all of that, I had question about casinos. Can you create stops made by the entrance or the exterior of casinos? I can provide screenshots as examples of stops. I had report for one of these places but it was not removed so I’m not really sure if it was actually not ok to add places like these.
There may be cultural differences with places like casinos.
So where I am in the U.K. I would consider a Casino on the high street to be an adult location. They have signs at the entrance saying 18 plus ( sometimes older). So I wouldn’t submit, and therefore I would vote to reject. I would do the same for other 18+ eg betting shops, tattoo places, and nightclubs ( these are 18+ as opposed to pubs which are not )
There have been occasional debates about whether an 18+ location that has a mural on the outside, if the mural could be considered as a wayspot. My recollection is that is a judgement call.
I know. I even asked myself to tattoo shops. We have 2 stops in the city, one is of actual tattoo studio and the other is of statue of satan or devil right infront of the tattoo shop which is owned by them. The second one with the statue is right infront of one of the highschools in the area. We also have 2 stops which are using parts of the exterior of the casino which are either aztec or roman themed but it doesn’t seem to be bad since I reported them all and Niantic did nothing so I’m guessing the places are legit.
Just remember there is a difference between how you might vote to accept ( which will end up as part of the community view) and what the policies for removal will allow.
I have heard arguments that I can understand tgat in places like Las Vegas a Casino building is like a mini resort so the areas where Gambling takes place you might treat differently. This is beyond my experience of places like this ![]()

But perhaps it’s why there is grey.
Ingress has no connection to Wayfarer since May 2025.
I know. The issue is that Ingress has access to the map of Pokemon GO on much accurate scope and apparently they can see people who reported stops in other games. People also use them for some sort of map which shows the grid for all of the stops in such way that you can know if they are going to show in the game or not. Its too much for me to understand how that works but thats all I know about it.
I played Ingress while it was part of Wayfarer and could not see who reported what. Since the separation, portals are not removed when Wayspots are, so they would have nothing to track in Ingress.
The forum is public, so reports here can be seen. I would recommend using the reporting abuse form to be sure your reports stay private if that is a concern, as well as to initiate an email chain.
I also used the Ingress map with an S2 cell overlay back when that was the most accurate way we had to see Wayspots. Now we have the Wayfarer map.
This is correct. I’m in California and I actually started playing during a vacation in Las Vegas. Most of the casinos there are a single floor, and usually not even the entire floor, in the ground floor of a high rise hotel. Carveouts for restaurants, gift shops, and hotel operations (check in desk, etc.)
Most of them have significant spaces set aside - often an entire second floor - for non gambling entertainment spaces, shops, and restaurants (when I started I was literally sitting in the Excalibur’s second floor food court). Many of them also have swimming pools and convention halls as well; some have shopping malls, and the Mandalay Bay has a predators-only aquarium.
And crucially, they are open to children; children are just restricted from actually gambling, and in some cases from certain restaurants and shows. (One of the shows I attended was a child-friendly comedy show at the Paris.)
Also, several of the players in my local Campfire groups are employees at indian reservation casinos (US federal law allows indian reservations to have casinos in non-gambling states), and while our local casinos are more gambling focused than in Las Vegas, they do have the same amenities, just in different proportions.
There are significant amounts of stops at all the ones I’m familiar with.
The issue I’m worried with this is that at least in Bulgaria where I’ve seen this, children are not allowed to go to casinos and its illegal here to promote them to children. What I noticed is that the game rules and criterias apply to the entire world as if they were in the USA. At least the game is not on the spotlight here so people can notice it.
In the UK, a standalone casino is a location you can only access if you prove you’re over 18. This means the whole venue is ineligible for wayfarer
I agree that the Vegas “Casinos” are actually hotels with a casino inside and most of the area within them is absolutely eligible for PoIs because they are open to everyone. You just couldn’t nominate the gaming areas themselves which are indeed only for adults. But the pools, restaurants and other attractions inside are absolutely fine as everyone of any age can enjoy those
