Ineligible Wayspots

Wayfarer has inconsistent guidelines. Recently, I submitted 2 separate ineligible Wayspots for removal (one of which NEVER should have been approved in game)

There is an epidemic in my playing area of people nominating statues they put on their front lawn, which somehow get approved. It’s disgusting to me that so many desperate Pokemon players are willing to use this “loophole” simply because of greed for more local pokestops.

My gripe is that Niantic Wayfarer makes the wrong decision pretty often, until they are exposed for OBVIOUSLY WRONG DECISIONS:

SO, that is what I am going to do; prove to a much bigger audience why someone’s front lawn flower garden with some fairy & gnome statues on private property SHOULD BE REMOVED!

It’s like whoever reviewed this submission just hit auto reject to make their job easier.

A Google maps search (with street view) of the address clearly shows this is private residential property.

Are u nominating wayspot or reporting ineligible wayspot?

Anyway you shouldnt nominate ineligible wayspot. They are just waiting on borrowed time until someone report them. You can report those ineligible wayspot for removal. If its rejected, you can appeal it.

What I originally did before realizing this was on someone’s private property, was I submitted an edit for lack of capitalization in the title. It was originally all lowercase letters… And THEN, I realized this was just somebody’s front lawn flower garden, which at that point I went into the game to report it for removal…. Which got denied (which is obviously the wrong decision and I will be submitting a removal request again until this gets removed or until this post on the forum is addressed).

Here are some more pictures PROVING this stop never should have been approved to begin with AND this is clearly PRP

As you can see, this is moreso the angle that the original nomination was taken from.

The same lawn ornaments aren’t even there! Proving it was temporary anyway AND IS STILL ON PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY!!!

YET, this stop won’t be removed.

Why, Niantic Wayfarer?

Why isn’t a Pokéstop so very obviously on PRP still not removed after multiple reports?

Hi @Zebbicat
Removal reports via ingame report are getting rejected, most of the time, because you can’t give enough proof.
Now you’re at the exact right place! By posting at Wayspot Appeals with all the evidence you can provide you’ll receive a decision in the next few days.

Thank you, sincerely. I hope so.

It seems pointless to have the option to report a Pokéstop (waypoint) in game if it’s all for show anyway. Why pretend?

The ingame report has become better over the last year (?). There’s now this freetext field where you can put in a link to photos or other sources for your claim.

Potentially good news (I have not seen it removed yet in person, but I am hopeful the right decision has finally been made for removal.) :crossed_fingers:

There is a daily sync for adding and removing wayspots which in a little less than 3 hours when I post this message. It should be removed then

Yes. When I’ve gotten waypoints added INTO the game, they typically show up between 1pm & 2:30 pm in my area. I’ve seen it happen live while I was playing! (A halo stop just suddenly appearing.)

that depends on the time they got the email… could be tomorrow.

Here’s another waypoint that I have attempted to get removed with no luck.

Because this wayspot is located Inside a GATED U.S. NAVY RESERVE Military Base, I can’t even get close to within spin distance to get to the menu to report it for sensitive location (or whatever the best option is).

Again, I don’t quite get how or why the reviewers accepted a waypoint that was clearly on military property. (Some newbie reviewers just upvote everything, I’ve heard.)

It also grinds my gears that this was a featured wayspot, since nobody except the nominator can spin the stop.

Being in military property is not rejection reason… a display can be in a non sensitive location.

Even if it’s in a gated military base with no public access?

Good point, totally forgot about the cut-off time

Yes, military bases can still have wayspots. You could get in contact with the base to get the wayspots removed if the base wants that

The Naval guñ Turret stop has been a much harder uphill battle.

It’s not nearly as egregious as all of the PRP waypoints- front lawn flower gardens, painted rocks or religious statues on people’s front porch, etc.

It even makes it clear in the tool tip in the review flow that military base nominations are allowed.

However, if this is a location that obstructs emergency operations, you are able to report locations that you can’t reach in game in a couple of ways. There is the help chat at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help or one of the reporting forms linked at the top of the forum:

fyi, the in game reporting doesn’t even allow you to report an issue for “obstructs emergency services” or “restricted access”.

One other waypoint in an area I go by, is a bar that has been closed for over a year.

For integrity purposes, even at a detriment to myself, I do believe this stop should be removed even though I (and other players) drive or walk by this and have spun it many times.

TBD/ pending on the picture of the actual waypoint itself…and the Pokéstop. I’m not quite in that area yet, today
