This is the first wall of text from you I enjoyed reading because it feels natural, no interpretation needed. But as you said, many people engaged, so maybe just a me thing. I wont derail any further, i said what i feel I needed to comment on, carry on.
It is my understanding that it was largely due to the initial popularity of Pokemon Go that caused the upset among non-players and the removals of many spots from the game for various reasons. Not saying that Ingress folks have been perfect
Not every Wayspot is somewhere I’d want to linger either. Like that historical marker in the middle of a busy roundabout — or the mural painted right outside a public restroom I walked past recently
.
As for above - items in roundabouts are often not eligible and can be flagged for removal if they do not have marked safe pedestrian access. As for the bathroom murals/art… if they are on the outside they are acceptable (not my favorite). But if they are inside the bathroom, I personally think it is a sensitive location.
Well I now on the other hand want to go back to under my rock and return to my lurker status now totally worth it though to have put the discussion out there. Engage in some enlightening conversations with almost 100% of you. AND found a new better place to lurk!
so keep up the good work posting replies to everyone else I’ll be watching
making sure I get the good intel and do t end up making dumb mistakes like I did before voting down nominations because they mentioned pokemon go but only in the SUPPORTING description
I’ll not make that mistake again! FB wayfarer groups clearly not the good intel. Thanks everyone!
Either way we are glad you are here. I learn a bunch from lurking! But do feel free to engage more and/or again on other topics too.
Not everyone has the same communication styles. So it can be hard and there may be crosstalk at times.
I’m still disappointed that we can’t help your specific area because you won’t let us. IMO, the best power of the people on this forum is to help people find and submit good things.
My personal view
This forum has always been open to people posting in their own language and using translation tools so that we can communicate across the globe.
Some of us will use other tools to ensure spelling and grammar are correct.
And some of us will no doubt use AI tools to formulate what we want to say - no one said communication is easy.
People often indicate or it’s obvious when some of these tools are being used perhaps adding a comment to a profile will help people be aware….perhaps that’s for a different topic
But I have always felt people should be welcome to contribute to this forum using tools as needed.
Well aren’t you sweet while trying to lure me out from under my lurking rock. Don’t be disappointed I’m quite handy with the tools at hand. Learning whilst lurking, chatting with my household players, and a few other local pogo friends who are also very into submitting wayfarer POI’s. The ideal world of being able to walk my own street with my own base community is indeed impossible with current rules. It’s front to end residential houses and they’re granted large parcels of land that go with those residences. So while some spots would t appear residential they in fact are so 1. It’s gray area and I’m a rule follower and 2. They are completely devoid of anything but beautiful green acres and trees but if you know how to be out of the gray and submit the nearest maple tree that is so far from the actual house the land belongs to you’d have to arrow pretty far down the road on google maps to find the house AND have it not be a gray area I’m still all ears! Or…eyeballs
When you write by yourself, it does come across better! I think this post is easier to read and you come across very well I hadnt realised how much the AI had affected how things sounded before but in my opinion, you’re better without it
I think you should continue to hang around here - it’s a nice forum and hopefully we will be able to help you, or you’d be able to help someone else, or both
I more than likely won’t I’m such a sally! No not really a wimp more like it just doesn’t mesh well with my personality I over think and want so badly to post to respond to negativity so they understand and know full well they never will so I just should leave it alone but don’t want to leave it alone. You get it. I appreciate the support though in liking my organic writing. It’s indirect contrast with my coworkers who finally understated me using tools but then maybe I’m learning to express myself better through using them too
I mean I’m all for having conflicting view points and discussing them thoughtfully but posting that has no merit but to be negative? Just better lurking then it doesn’t stick with me I just giggle or feel bad for people when it’s others posts and go oh people be fighting on the internet again ugh! But it doesn’t stick with me to overthink
Overthinking is quite common I think, as are long answers. I end up writing essays here sometimes as well so I’d just say welcome to the club!
I just wanted to make sure you know that you’re very welcome here, and if you want to use the AI then dont let us stop you, but don’t feel you need to, because what you might feel you gain in structure, you lose in that human connection and I think that’s what Roli was referring to.
So you were a human after all!
Thank you for switching, this feels infinitely better. It would have been impossible for me (and I’m sure others) to engage with this thread otherwise. Whoever told you you were hard to understand without tools is full of crap, and you and your thoughts are welcome here in whatever form
PS: I am extremely long winded and so what?
If you mean @RoIi112 's post, it did have merit, and was not just negativity. Look how many people have responded positively to your change in tone! Roli’s nickname on the Wayfarer Discussion Discord is “No-chill Roli” because he just says stuff out straight. Believe me, I have been furious with him there, but there is no better advocate I can think of for me personally or Wayfarers in general.
You don’t need to provide us with the exact location where you are, but a general location would be ok, such as the town or county you live in, or even the state. I don’t think anyone has figured out where exactly a certain user lives when they provide a general location, or even info about a nomination they are looking for help with.
While I haven’t said where my hometown is, I have posted screenshots of my accepted Wayspots from there, and I think others could figure it out. I don’t think they can figure out where my childhood home is there though from what I’ve submitted, nor could they figure out my current location (other than a general area) from the accepted Wayspots I’ve shared that just typically ahve the city and state listed.
It’s just getting harder to help out when we don’t even have a general idea of where you tend to play, and may be looking at adding Wayspots.
I’ve also been trying to boost my local rural community which has grown from 1 player to 5, with a few dozen coming into town for events. We are 25km from the nearest numbered highway, you don’t end up here by chance.
I have stopped submitting nominations for pokestops after only 1 of my 4 nominations was approved. Sadly the 1 isn’t even being used in the game and doesn’t show on our map. The other 3 were legitimate local sites, a mix of historic sites and local business.
I give up…it feels like they don’t want the game to grow.
I can’t attract people here for raid hours and events without adding more stop, which would give me the ability to create more routes. We have 1 route within a 100km radius. Not sure how anyone will ever get their 3 Zygarde cells per day around here.
The system is broken. People judging pokestop additions should just automatically approve them all. The game is in decline and we need to stop making things worse.
Stop gate keeping! Approve everything!
That is how people get bans. Don’t do it.
You gave up after 4 nominations? Did you ask for advice on improving any of them? I would suggest starting a new topic in Nomination Support to see if your nominations can be improved. But the fact is that some places just do not have anything eligible, and you will have to “GO” elsewhere to play.
Like Cyndie mentioned, can you make a new topic and share the nominations with us? Would love to see if we can help you get those approved, or something else?
That’s a weird suggestion. This is not how it works. Learn about the criteria and guidelines. It will be a lot easier.
It’s not gate keeping, it’s using best judgement to vote on whether it meets criteria.
Don’t know if you have done much reviewing but if so you will see how many ridiculous nominations go in to voting.
Couple of months ago we had a picture of someones living room and a Title of My Home. Are you suggesting this should be accepted?
The only way to get what you want and I am not suggesting this is to drop the “real world” part of the game and stick a stop in the middle of each cell. Would need a rename as well, “Pokemon Sit On Couch”…
Hello and welcome,
I do have to agree that knowing the criteria and guidelines before nomination is going to be very helpful, and reviewing is also extremely helpful. I do both, and reviewing has taught me a lot about what may or may not be eligible because I have to judge each nomination off of the criteria and guidelines.
You can also review the Wayspot Criteria in the help center; it’s also listed in the Help tab on the Wayfarer website. I also find the How to Review Wayspots section helpful for both reviewing and nominating, especially when it comes to the guidelines on what makes for a good title/descriptioon/photo/location. Another place to check out is the Criteria Clarification Collection, which is here in the forums, help center, and Help tab, and covers some of the most discussed POIs. Lastly, if you have any questions about POIs that you’re looking at nominating or have nominated but have gotten rejected, feel free to post in the Nomination Support thread. We are more than happy to help look at POIs to see if they may or may not be eligible, and how to make improvements to get the ones that may be eligible approved.
I do see that you have Saskatchewan is in your username, so I think you may live in the province, which, to be frank, is quite large. If you would like some help, you’re more than welcome to post a general location in Nomination Support, and we’ll be glad to take a look around and see if there is anything that may be eligible that could be nominated.
I am sorry that you feel this way. If you are willing to share your complete nomination we might be able to suggest improvement. Anyway dont be discouraged by rejection , some eligible wayspot also could be falsely rejected by AI. Personally i have hundreds rejection after 11 years of nomination. But each of those rejection help me improve my nomination.
