Let people create pokestops wherever, I don’t understand why you think gatekeeping a 9 year old game is a good idea? The burnout rate past level 40 is crazy.
The player base shrinks every year, because of the difficulty level and lack of catch up mechanics. We need to replace the players who leave with new ones. Given the amount of time it takes yo get to level 50, not many new playera are going to see it through.
If someone wants a pokestop marking the tree on their property, let them have it.
Without making a few concessions, it’s just going to be a bunch of nerds left playing the game and that does nothing to attract new players…
I could grow my local community and generate more revenue for them, but the system is broken.
Hello @SaskatchewanDad
This is a place where you can air views, but please remain respectful to your fellow wayfinders. It is perfectly possible to express your views passionately whilst respecting other people and their views.
From what you say a lot of the issues you are identifying are to do with game play. That is in the hands of the Pokémon Go team and you will need to find a way to explain the systematic issues to them.
The Wayfinders that are here are the ones that are continually adding to the game board and have already made it a much better play setup. If you are not submitting places or objects that fit within guidelines, then yes you will find they are rejected either by the automatic computer program or the community.
The community here would be willing to help you identify if there are any eligible nominations in your area and how to make the most of what you have got.
I feel what you’re saying, but if we can be honest the game is in decline and it would be in all of our best interests to do things to grow the community. We may get a small push for the 10th anniversary next year, but it’s all downhill after that.
I play a 22 year old MMO and I would love to be able to open my phone 10 years from now and play Pokémon Go. But in it’s current form, that wont happen.
This is not true from my vantage point. We have 400-500 people check in at our meetups. True, some people are tired of a game they have played since 2016, but new people are joining us every day.
Pokémon GO, published by Niantic, continues to be one of the most engaging augmented reality games. With 6.1 million monthly active users and 837,498 daily players, it still commands a dedicated community years after launch. Players log in frequently, averaging 5.47 sessions per day, with each session lasting 16.61 minutes on average.
Hey, i am one of new Wayfarer in here, and I think this whole statement is really wrong.
There should be a “standard” for the community to based on, otherwise if anything can be a pokestop, then it defeats the purpose of the game and Wayfarer(to be adventurous and to discover new thing)
I think the community doesn’t really gatekeeping anything, in fact they are more welcoming to help you submitting a wayspot. I don’t know where are you getting information from.
The private property, it is a lawsuit Nitanic (or Scopely in the future) will be risking and would make the game dying even faster. Shame some location in private property are really good to be pokestop, but it is what it is, i can find 10 more later.
I think the system still has a lot of problem, like with Gym denial or Unique business getting rejected, but they can be appealed and would be approved with enough conviction.
Private, personal pokéspots would be great, and I support the idea, but it should be handled by pokémon, not wayfarer, because:
1, If added through wayfarer, it would undermine the whole purpose of collecting points of interest in public spaces.
2, Pokémon devs already add extra points like sponsored pokestops and “community ambassador” pokestops and gyms, but they need to recognize that regular players need this option too!
Don’t see that this has been mentioned, but many Power Spots have been imported, thus they are not required to follow Wayfarer criteria. There are unused Wayspots that do get used as Power Spots from time to time, but most that you’ll see will likely be imports. Here’s more info on that:
I think others have discussed how this could cause possible legal issues in some places, such as trespassing. While we are told to play based on the laws of our community, Wayfarer has also taken action to make sure that Wayspots do not end up on single family private residential property (SFPRP for short).
Again, it does seem as though you may need to review the criteria and guidelines better, maybe even do some reviewing yourself. If you do find Wayspots that seem to not meet criteria, such as one on SFPRP, you can request removal.
BTW, I think PoGo is making quite a good amount of money still, as there are multiple events every month with paid tickets, not to mention the new rewards system that was launched this year to give rewards when one makes purchases; it seems there is always an event on the weekend, and this past weekend had Fossil Research Day, which had its own paid ticket. We have many here that go to in-person events that have paid tickets (something I’ve never been able to do), and many who buy global tickets for events like GO Fest as soon as the are available. So, if PoGo was broken, it still wouldn’t be bringing in the money it does, and Scopely most likely wouldn’t have paid as much as it did to get it, Wayfarer, and some of the other games.
I think looking at this issue from a money point of view isn’t the best, as Wayfarer doesn’t cost anything to participate in. All that is asked of users is to be at a certain level in PoGo, follow the criteria and guidelines, and have a mobile device connected to the internet to submit with. Yes, you may pay for your phone/tablet and internet/data service, but everything Wayfarer provides is free to the user.
It is wrong to request this from Wayfarer.
Wayfarer is just a storage place for wayspots.
Unfortunately, Wayfarer does not have the ability to make your own couch pokestop.
If you want to make a request, please contact PoGo Support.
And, If you want your own couch pokestop, do the following.
Build a playground in front of your house and donate it to the town.
Open a café where you can drink delicious coffee or a restaurant where you can eat delicious pizza, and gain a good reputation.
Build an agency for the company you sponsor.
That way, you can create a couch pokestop completely legally.
I got this a few years ago by moving to an apartment next to a park (that wasnt the reason I moved there!!!) I still had to actually submit the PoIs though
I don’t live there anymore, but wow did that park improve over the years! It’s now the best place to play in the whole area
Just gonna add here, i feel like there can be some giveway in rural areas, more specifically proper.rural, like hill walking rural. Ive brought it uo before but for a while natural features werent an automatic rejection, and i feel if its a touristy spot, or at least a spot thats interesting enough be markes on google maps, then it should be allowed, heres 2 examples
Both these places have websites, show up on google maps (though the secind kne now shows the car park rather than the thing itself, it did show the linn at the start of the year) and are toruisty attractions, but neither have signs at them, imo they should be acceptable, but ai rejects and also the appeals team (who had the cheek to say “review the rejection critieria” when they themselves didnt review it lol)
I am 100% for allowing 100% official Natural Features like these to be acceptable (got to be better than a tree on your property ).
Surprised that places like these haven’t got an information board to use as an anchor but viewable on google satellite, official websites and any other evidence you can supply and I see no reason these shouldn’t be acceptable.
I do not see why The Whangie can’t be accepted under the current criteria. It may be difficult to get past ML, but if you pin it on the specific rock outcrop and provide website links (like you have here and other times), there’s no good reason that can’t be accepted through appeal. IMO, this is exactly the kind of thing appeal is made for.
Start a new topic and we can all help you draft it - both the nomination and appeal. I believe any natural feature that has its own car park should easily meet criteria.
Agreed! I’m so frustrated with this joke of a system. I’ll nominate a restaurant that’s approved two towns over like a Del Taco or Wendy’s but it’ll get rejected. I’m submitted neighborhood markers, signs, etc and they all get denied yet the neighborhood next to ours has a dozen of the same.
Several people seem to have responded six months ago. However, the requirement for acceptance is that applicants must meet one of the three eligibility criteria and not any of the rejection criteria.
Wayfarer has a long history dating back to OPR. Some locations have been approved due to misunderstandings on the part of the reviewers, while others have been approved despite not meeting the acceptance criteria, due to abusers exploiting loopholes in the system. As these locations do not meet the deletion criteria, they remain as they are.
Instead of referring to such places, please explore the truly unique and interesting spots in your town.
