recently was deleted POI from Ingress and in Pokemon Go was changed from gym to power spot. I do not understand why. POI was nice huge screw with name of wholeseller, safe place, accessible 24/7, public place.
position 50,0760235N, 14,3096836E
The players community is asking for return of that gym and portal.
Thanks
The powerspot appearing most likely had nothing to do with the gym being removed. Our observations on the Wayfarer Discussion Discord indicate that powerspots appear to be a combination of Wayspots that are not being used by Pokemon Go and locations imported from a map service, most likely because of Nianticâs relationship with Overture:
What you listed is only a few parts of the actual Wayfarer Criteria.
One part of it also says to reject Generic Businesses and non-distinct enough objects.
Hornbach is one of the larger hardware store chains in Europe. As such, they fulfill the Generic Businesses rejection criteria, and their standard decorations like this huge sign are fulfilling the rejection criteria of being generic and non-distinct too. It should never have been ever accepted in the first place, the removal is correct and any try to bring this back is against the rules.
As cyndie said, Powerspots are a mixture of different sources. The Powerspot for this Hornbach was added outside of the Wayfarer process and therefore is included despite not fulfilling any rules.
Being a Powerspot therefore does not mean in any way that an object is eligible nor ineligible when submitted over Wayfarer. Though mist of them that were imported from external sources would be ineligible or even considered abuse of Wayfarer, if submitted by users.
Hi kawin240,
thanks for your view on this POI.
I am quite experienced wayfarer user.
What I can see within nominations and within changes of POI are much much worse cases.
This screw with nut even with Hornbach sign is safe, accurate, permanent, good place for socializing, exercising and is definitelly significant for community.
But I can even hardly understant your point.
have a great day
You and Cyndie are responding with correct observations about acceptance criteria, though local judgement would also apply.
Iâm curious about how this criteria came to be used to remove a POI after it was already live in the database.
Arenât removal criteria much more limited? If it was accepted, and found to be safely accessible, not interfering with emergency services, not SFPRP or farmland etc., how did this Wayspot meet the criteria for removal?
The fact that the business name is the same as the Pokemon Go gym name does not indicate that they have turned the Wayspot into a Powerspot. Locally I have both a gym called âDavis Drive Parkâ and a Powerspot called âDAVIS DRIVE PARKâ at the same time. The Powerspot is where the label is on Google Maps.
I did not really address the reason for removal of the Wayspot, since I donât know the circumstances behind that. I mentioned not meeting criteria more to indicate that it should not be resubmitted or reinstated. Rereading my answer, I see that wasnât clear, so ty!
If you want to appeal the removal of the Wayspot, you need to request that in Wayspot Appeals . It is difficult to get one reinstated since you donât know the reason for removal to address that specifically, but you can present evidence to the best of your ability to Niantic that the Wayspot still exists and meets criteria.
I do not use the Wayfarer App since they asked us regular people not to, so thank you for that post. This name is slightly different than the one they said. The Waypost did not show in Ingress, so may just have been removed from games. Now I wonder if the one that was showing in Pokemon Go was removed as a duplicate of this one.
When I first replied to this topic, I only meant to reasure that the Powerspot going live and the Gym going away were almost certainly not connected.
I will try to explain my duplicate theory, but this is just a guess. If a submission is made through that Wayfarer App, instead of correctly through the games, it normally will not show in any games. People reviewing nominations, however, will see all Wayspots on the nearby check. Someone could have seen both the Wayspot for your gym and the one that is still in Lightship, and reported to Niantic that there were duplicates of this poi. And Niantic could have picked the gym one to remove instead of the Lightship one, because I donât think showing in any game is a consideration for the team.
Go ahead and appeal the removal. I will stop trying to guess why it may have been removed.
