Pokestop approved but did not show up in game

Just curious to why the spot I nominated got approved in the Pokemon Go game to be a PokeStop but has not shown up in game. Also why would it be posted as “wayspot used in other Niantic games” when it was submitted from the Pokemon go app.

Welcome to the forum @Bleedgreen0

Even though the prompt tells you that you are submitting a Pokestop, you are actually submitting a Wayspot. Wayspots are included in Pokemon Go only if they are alone in a level 17 S2 cell. A good article about S2 cells is this one:
https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

Other issues could be it just hasn’t synced in yet, reviewers moved your pin, the property owners have the area geoblocked, or there was an actual glitch that the team will have to address. But it normally is the S2 cell thing.

If you would like to leave the gps coordinates, someone can verify this.

35.16248° N, 111.65555° W
These are the coordinates for the pokestop (Square One) that was approved.

Your Wayspot is in the same L17 S2 cell as another, so cannot appear in Pokemon Go

So even with other areas that seem to have more than one stop in one cell. How does that work?

A lot of times, you will see clusters at the corners of the cells. There is no spacing requirement as long as they are on opposite sides of those lines.

There used to be a way to abuse edits to force extra Pokethings into a single L17 cell, but that abuse method has been stopped. But you might see some old ones still remaining on the game board.

Sponsored stops do not have to follow the cell rules.

Ok I’ll try and see if I can find another significant spot to nominate… hopefully it’s in a different cell. Thanks for your advice and input.

this building 3770 has a concrete area beside it - is that anything eligible? this cell is empty if it is. there isn’t street view.

The top 3770 is a little laundry room and the other is an apartment. I’d have to walk around to find something that’ll meet the requirements. Also does it still count as the other pokestop is a gym now. Also that said gym has another pokestop by it is that pokestop in the same cell as the one I was inquiring about?

Here is the whole L14:

The one per L17 rule is for a Wayspot to be a Poke-thing whether gym or stop. That article I linked mentions when gyms are created.

Hmm I guess we should take this to Nomination Support to continue discussing since it isn’t actually a bug. But we are happy to help there!

Ok sounds good. I know if it’s able to get put into the game I’m sure it would benefit others in the area. I just hope it doesn’t create an issue where stops get removed from the game.

Any ideas why I’m not getting a response from the support team??

On this post? This category is usually for fellow forum members to comment on. Niantic sometimes comments here, but I thought I had answered the question for you on this topic. What did you still want answered?

DOH! I re-read and you had originally submitted this in the bug category. I see it has been moved to the Nomination Support category. So someone did look at it and move it.

To add to the above, Niantic will review the Appeals thread and the Bug thread. But the bulk of the threads are primarily forum members and Ambassadors.
