I submitted my pokestop in 31/12/2024 and it was approved on 12/1/2025.
Coords are here: 53.439885, -2.100401
Its been well over the 48 hours and its not appeared. I checked and it sadly makes two stops per cell.
However someone pointed out that Sao Paulo -23.58683741805125, -46.655257360739775 has more than 2 more (in most cases) per s17 cell? Was this an old rule that allowed the groupings to be tighter?
There used to be a way to abuse edits to cram more Pokestops or gyms into the same S2 cell, but that was addressed. Sponsored Pokestops or gyms do not have to follow the S2 cell rules.
I realize I did not have to show you the cells, but thought it might help others. I don’t see a portal at the last coordinates you gave, but I don’t have a way to see what is live in Pokemon Go.
I saw this location posted on reddit (I think?) at some point last year. The screenshot I saw appeared to be from 2023 as it contained Cowboy Snorlax raids. I have no idea if it still looks like that today, but it definitely looked like it had way too much going on. I might go digging to see if I can find the screenshot again.
Won’t lie I’m gutted that it’s hard enough some times getting genuine PS’s approved but then to learn that they may never see the light of day is depressing.
I did notice that dynamax stops don’t seem to count to the s17 rules? Is this true? As in are my nominations a total waste?
The Max portals / stops don’t follow the S17 rules. They will either use existing wayspots that have been submitted and already in the database, or have been imported by Niantic.
The Powerspots are a mix of Wayspots that had been approved through explorers submitting them, and an imported database Niantic brought in. So there is a chance that some of yours that don’t show in Pokemon Go could become a Powerspot. Let me find that link from Niantic explaining:
I am very happy that Niantic is allowing us to freely explain about the S2 cells here, because I understand it is frustrating. I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot which may or may not qualify to be a Poke something.
