If you feel comfortable posting a screenshot of your submission, we can help you workshop it for an appeal or for a resubmission.
This may or may not apply to you, but I think it applies to a lot of people, so I will share my Supplemental Details Plea™
My biggest suggestion is to use the supplemental details section to provide additional context for reviewers (location confirmation, links to relevant media or review sites that show how the luncheonette is famous, etc.). I have done more reviewing than submitting, and if I had to put a number on it, I’d estimate that 85% of submissions I review have no words – or just a few words – in the supplemental details section. If you’re submitting from within the Pokemon Go app, it can be annoying to type in this section, so consider using the web submission form instead – or you can edit your contributions on the Wayfarer website before they go into voting.
I also notice that when people DO use the supplemental details section, they often hyper-focus on saying that the POI is safe and on a sidewalk, rather than explaining why it’s a great place to explore, exercise, or socialize. Two quick examples:
I often see submissions like a restaurant with 3 to 5 supplemental photos of the sidewalk at different angles, rather than showing the seating area, the restaurant’s awards, etc. We know that a restaurant is accessible by pedestrians, but we don’t know whether it has a seating area where people can socialize, whether it’s an award-winning restaurant that has been there for 120 years, etc.
Likewise, If you are submitting Wayspots in the woods, you should know that reviewers usually can’t see anything on Street View because of all of the trees. The supplemental details section can include multiple photos, including photos with lat/long included on them (from various apps) that can help reviewers approve submissions instead of skipping them or indicating that they can’t find the location.
Finally, reviewing Wayspot submissions can help you improve your own submissions by developing a better understanding of what reviewers see on their end. For example, I recently made a submission where street view was partially obstructed, so I knew it would be difficult for reviewers to validate the location of the submission. I used the supplemental details section to confirm the address and to provide links that verified it. I also showed photos from multiple angles so that reviewers could identify the cross streets.
If you are nominating Wayspots, the Supplemental Details section is your best friend – and the Supplemental Details section is much easier to use on the web submission form than from within the Pokemon Go app.
