Pokestop suggestion

There is no consistency on hiw these are done or reviewed?

Ive seen 100s of laundromats as pokestops, yet the one that was formerly a locally famous lunchenette cannot become a pokestop.

Also theres a 2 liquor store pokestops/gyms by me but wont let the picnic table near the store be a pokestop because the picnic table is used for adult services.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Welcome to the forum.

In some parts of the world, some imported data was used to create game locations so that people could participate in Niantic games. Those locations did not have to meet the criteria. If they expressly should not be in game, such as the liquor stores, they can be reported for removal.

Anything you submit has to meet Wayfarer Criteria. Here is a link where you can explore the Eligiblity Criteria, Acceptance Criteria, and Rejection Criteria: https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/section/166-wayspot-criteria/

If you have a specific rejection you don’t understand and would like advice on, you can post screenshots here of the rejected contribution.

If there are portals that are designed for adult use (liquor store and places where adults can only go), or places where the location is primarily used for minors, that exist within your area, you could put in a request to get them removed from. Some Wayspots become Power Spots. These may equally be illegible and, in my opinion, should be requested to be removed.

Regarding your nominations that are getting rejected, are you in a position to post some examples so that we can help you identify possible improvements?

Were yours rejected by “our team” or “the community”?

Because if it’s “the community”, that’s other players voting and you might be able to improve your submission technique and resubmit. “Our team” is an automated process based on the pictures only, as I understand it, and can often be improved upon as well if the circumstances permit. (zooming more/less, different lighting, avoiding people and vehicle number plates).

If you feel comfortable posting a screenshot of your submission, we can help you workshop it for an appeal or for a resubmission.

This may or may not apply to you, but I think it applies to a lot of people, so I will share my Supplemental Details Plea™

My biggest suggestion is to use the supplemental details section to provide additional context for reviewers (location confirmation, links to relevant media or review sites that show how the luncheonette is famous, etc.). I have done more reviewing than submitting, and if I had to put a number on it, I’d estimate that 85% of submissions I review have no words – or just a few words – in the supplemental details section. If you’re submitting from within the Pokemon Go app, it can be annoying to type in this section, so consider using the web submission form instead – or you can edit your contributions on the Wayfarer website before they go into voting.

I also notice that when people DO use the supplemental details section, they often hyper-focus on saying that the POI is safe and on a sidewalk, rather than explaining why it’s a great place to explore, exercise, or socialize. Two quick examples:

:hamburger: I often see submissions like a restaurant with 3 to 5 supplemental photos of the sidewalk at different angles, rather than showing the seating area, the restaurant’s awards, etc. We know that a restaurant is accessible by pedestrians, but we don’t know whether it has a seating area where people can socialize, whether it’s an award-winning restaurant that has been there for 120 years, etc.

:evergreen_tree: Likewise, If you are submitting Wayspots in the woods, you should know that reviewers usually can’t see anything on Street View because of all of the trees. The supplemental details section can include multiple photos, including photos with lat/long included on them (from various apps) that can help reviewers approve submissions instead of skipping them or indicating that they can’t find the location.

Finally, reviewing Wayspot submissions can help you improve your own submissions by developing a better understanding of what reviewers see on their end. For example, I recently made a submission where street view was partially obstructed, so I knew it would be difficult for reviewers to validate the location of the submission. I used the supplemental details section to confirm the address and to provide links that verified it. I also showed photos from multiple angles so that reviewers could identify the cross streets.

If you are nominating Wayspots, the Supplemental Details section is your best friend – and the Supplemental Details section is much easier to use on the web submission form than from within the Pokemon Go app.

We can’t control how reviewers review. We have guidelines…. people are required / expected to follow them. Niantic can’t oversee every review manually.

This information and responses have been useless.

The absolute lack of consistency is the problem.

I understand your trying to help but just droping useless links is a waste of everyone time.

I have added plenty of pokestops and gyms. There is no consistency on either end. What the company rejects and the community rejects.

Hello @legend4769
We have all had frustrating situations with rejections, so understand that feeling.
The question I would ask is what do you hope to get out of posting here as it’s not clear.
If it’s about some specific rejections then we need to see the specifics.
If you have identified some examples of repeated problems and would like to make suggestions about how to improve we will be happy to hear.

Maybe we can give you information that isn’t “useless” if you supply us with examples.

There will always be grey areas in reviewing, when people are using their best judgement.
