Portal remove request

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Cruz De Madera
  • Location (lat/lon): -17.77162687462028, -63.20984574430566
  • City: Santa Cruz de la Sierra
  • Country: Bolivia
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
  • Additional Information (if any): Upon review, it appears that the Portal in question—a cross located at the “Salon Velatorio Municipal D1”—is redundant, as the building itself is already represented by an existing Portal. According to Wayfarer guidelines, only one Wayspot should represent a single point of interest, unless there are clearly distinct features or significant gameplay elements that justify additional Wayspots.

In this case, the cross is directly associated with the building and does not offer a unique or separate point of interest. Its primary function is as part of the location’s overall identity, which is already captured by the existing Portal for the "Salon Velatorio Municipal D1.

Hi, while I agree that a funeral home can definitely be perceived as a sensitive location in many cultures and it is unclear how it meets Wayfarer criteria, and while I agree that it’s likely some wayspots in the area are misplaced, there is definitely nothing in the Wayfarer guidelines that says that a cross can be removed as a duplicate of a building. They can very well be separately eligible POI. And the cross associated to the funeral home isn’t the one you are reporting but " Cruz De Salón Velatorio", purely going off the title.

In addition, considering this post appears to be a removal appeal, it is unlikely staff will address it in the first place without seeing the rejection email for your removal report.

I would suggest reconsidering.

Thank you for your response. I understand your point, but there is a fundamental issue here that goes beyond accessibility or safety: the “Cruz de Madera” Portal is located in the same building as two other existing Portals, creating unnecessary redundancy.

According to Wayfarer guidelines, a single building should typically be represented by one Wayspot unless there are clearly distinct, independent, and unique features that justify additional Portals. In the case of the building where “Cruz de Madera” is located, there are already two Portals that sufficiently represent it. Adding another Portal does not provide any significant additional value but instead contributes to an unequal distribution of Portals and impacts the overall quality of the network.

Having three Portals in the same building contradicts the goal of Wayfarer to ensure a fair and diverse distribution of Portals. To maintain the integrity of the network and avoid excessive concentration in one location, the “Cruz de Madera” Portal should be removed.

I kindly request that this matter be reconsidered and the Portal removed to enhance the quality and fairness of the game for all players.

@B4ndura It looks like we haven’t gotten to this request yet or it hasn’t been submitted through in-game. At this time, we only take appeals to overturn decisions we’ve already made.
