These twin metal structures shown in the photos are a unique feature of this neighbourhood, and a number of them can be found throughout the neighbourhood. There are a few Wayspots which are based on these structures. One of them is titled “Twin Metal Art”.
Over the years, several people have uploaded photos for this Wayspot “Twin Metal Art”, but these photos are not all of the same metal structure. So what does this Wayspot actually represent now? This single Wayspot cannot possibly be representing so many metal structures at once. This is what I want to clarify by making this post. From my understanding, the Wayspot should solely represent the structure shown in the oldest photo, as it is the one the original submitter intended it to be. But if I am wrong, I am glad to be corrected on this.
Well i would see it like playground. Since wayfarer want one playground set to represent the whole playground, the wayspot might have multiple foto of playground set(swing, sand box, climbing structure, etc)
While i understand that this “art” might be everywhere. I believe its better to keep it like this. You cant expect multiple wayspot with this “art” on multiple place since it will become indistinct.
That seems like a possible way to interpret this Wayspot’s purpose. But in that case I still have one question: if we follow your interpretation, where should the exact location of this Wayspot be?
This feels like a grey area (an edge case) where this is no 100% correct single answer and it’s open to interpretation.
If these are all multiple instances of the same artistic element that exists in lots of places close together, then I can understand them being treated as one POI. They can’t all be POI, so to me that’s the best interpretation. In that case, the location is wherever the original submission is, even though other locations would be valid, because a PO has to have an explicit location not just be a general area.
Even for something like a playground, the wayspot has a pin at a specific location, although lots of other locations would also have been valid.
These photos could have been added when nominations of the other structures were marked as duplicate of this wayspot. That adds the nomination photo to the wayspot. The oldest photo would be what the wayspot is for, and if you want to clean it up, you can ask help chat at Niantic Wayfarer
to remove the photos that don’t belong. That option is under the Abuse section, but doesn’t mean anyone will be punished. It’s just where it is in the menu.
