Question about post offices

Hello everyone, I kinda need your opinion on this topic.
So on the wayfarer criteria it lists post offices as eligible.
However in Germany the “Deutsche Post” is no longer owned by the country, instead it is a private business. Therefore a lot of “post offices” in Germany are integrated into other businesses, like supermarkes/malls with their own “Deutsche Post” section.
Would you still consider these to be “post offices” and if so - how would you guys submit those?

In the UK, the Post Office is a private entity, and some are located in shops such as WH Smiths, Tescos and other locations and some have their own building. As long as they are providing a Government Regulated Service (Postage Stamps, Posting of letters and parcels, etc), they are deemed eligible. I don’t know much about Deutsche Post, so you may need to explain in the Description and Supporting Information about the services it offers and whether it’s Government Regulated or not.

That’s a valuable tip - even though I think most German reviewers know it, I haven’t considered that other non-German reviewers might not be familiar with it.

In most cases, German reviewers will review your nomination. The only time you would need to worry is if there is a Global Challenge and Germany is the lucky country that gets selected. Most reviewers, especially in Europe, but can’t comment further afield, may know that Deutsche Post is the German Post Office. But how descriptive you want to be is at your discretion.

There are areas in Germany with majority outside reviewers, where if you don’t put an English translation, an incorrect rejection is almost guaranteed.

I would not say that any region in Central Europe really has same country majority voters. It will depend on the region itself.

I think it doesn’t hurt to add extra descriptions - at least in the 2nd text for the reviewer. I live close enough to France that I do get some French reviews myself - so I guess other French people will see the things I submit, therefore it is better to have extra information.

Exactly. I recommend to give a French translation in the supporting information

I have to plead ignorance on that part, especially as when I review foreign nominations which is written in the local language, I would pass it through Google Translate.

I’ll admit I made a generalised assumption about the type of people who will see the nomination. So I will accept the point.

A post office is a post office IMO, it doesn’t matter if it’s part of another shop. Lead with the fact that it’s a post office in the title and explain its location in the description.
