A fenced area doesnt mean a poi is without safe access. But if the area is fenced because of dangerous animals inside the area? Such as tigers or lions. (for exemple a poi within a zoo) would it be regarded as unsafe access, or should it be regarded as still safe access, since someone would ofc have safe access, like the staff of the zoo. (Animals would moust likley not be inside of the area when visited by the staff). How to review such a poi?
imo, inside an animal enclosure does not have safe pedestrian access, even for those permitted to be there. they have to take precautions to enter, which precludes playing a phone game.
If the zoo exhibit has a sign, that would be eligible and safe to access. I would look for those, as we are discouraged to submit photos with live animals in them anyways. I know several of the exhibits at my local zoo for the animals have Wayspots at the signs that visitors are able to access, all of which are on walking paths or inside buildings open to the public.
Funny I should see this kind of post as I recently reviewed a place within a zoo while the zoo itself at its main entrance gate would be classed as safe access in my eyes providing theres external footpaths coming and going from the area
Now…inside the zoo is a different kettle of fish maybe if there is safe access to info signs around the zoo for each of the animals that are caged for there safety from us humans that would be acceptable but as @cyndiepooh said inside an enclosure that would be a no no.
My review wasn’t informative or explaining what it was but it did happen to name the zoo that I knew of which got me looking around at street view maps to see if I could identify the area of the internal of the zoo.
Some things require Local Knowledge and if you don’t have it then either do the best you can, consider visiting personally and do your own recon (snooping) if nearby and prices are reasonable then contribute to the local area’s business which can open your mindset or hit “skip” or report it as “not appropriate”.
I’m lucky as I have a local Museum nearby that feels like it’s in my own backyard and while it’s public accessible at cost there’s plenty of approved wayspots inside to have private play.
So it’s all about common sense mainly and your best judgement plus you have the wayfarer community here to help as well so your not alone and differing opinions can help train your future decision process.
I will not nominate any poi inside of a fenced area with tigers
But the reason why I ask, is that close to where I live there are a poi standing inside of the fenced areas where there are tigers. Staff from the zoo would moust likely be able to visit the place, but Im not sure if this poi really should be a poi. Have been looking for some guidelines, but I think this is quite interesting question.
This is a good time for a reminder that although pokestops can be spun from a distance, other Niantic games require being able to be practically on top of the Wayspot. Always consider actual irl location, not merely safe “enough” for Pokemon Go.
If your curious on a POI that you think is unsafe and have the ability to interact with the Wayspot then gather some evidence and report it if you haven’t already done so.
Sometimes the wayspot just has it’s location within your range externally but from inside the fenced area it maybe normal and not in the animal cage if it is then I suggest getting updated GPS Co-Ordinates and make an edit request instead of a removal.
Curious, what are these POI?
Ditto, fascinated to see what these are now
Most pubs in Glasgow are a Wayspot though so unsafe areas with dangerous animals are allowed.
I think safety is up to each player and as long as your not going to get hot by a car is safe!
In south Africa this was a hot topic as most of the players would rarely leave their car outside of a mall
You see the big ”head” further back in the picture? Thats the poi…
Its part of the ”interior” of the tigers habitat.
Wow, that’s insane! Clearly not safe!! There must be a sign for the exhibit or something else that could be tagged rather than putting the POI smack in the middle of a Tiger enclosure.
Haha well I first thought just like you. But when thinking a while, those who works there, would moust likely have safe access since otherwise they wouldnt be able to work there. But the average aspect, no not safe. But not all places will be accessed by anyone so I think this is an interesting case.
Rather than get rid of the head statue try to add the old Russian bus too.
That way players could sit inside as the tiger looks on licking it’s lips at the Pokémon geeks.
OK, if someone who works there is able to enter the tiger’s den, then they are going to be there only for work purposes, not to exercise, explore, or socialize.
I would assume the tigers would not be in the den if staff enter, however if they are then they need to pay 100% of their attention to this large potentially dangerous animal, not play a game.
Yes, not every POI needs to be accessible to everyone, but it needs to be safe for everyone who does have access to it. It also needs to meet the eligibility criteria of being a great place to exercise, to explore, or to socialize. So if you’re reviewing something like this, it’s a hard no.
And it seems completely unnecessary because there must be another anchor for the POI near this exhibit if it’s a zoo.
The old bus would maybe be legit there is a passage in the ground, for people to come up inside the bus, and look closer at the tigers. And it should be safe for pedestrians.
Bug there is no such passage to the head, even if you would probably be pretty close to the head being inside the bus. But you would nog be at the actual head.
I like it.
It would be cool if the bus was a stop but the head was a gym just out of range of the bus.
Kids these days have it way too easy when it comes to collecting daily coins. When I were a lad we had to walk 250 miles in the snow, without shoes, over a river and through a coal mine just to spin a stop! Bl00dy kids these days!
Awww that’s so cool
Thats a very good aspect! And yes there are tons of poi in these zoo. Its a very large place, but like many other places in my region it has changed a lot from what it looked like several years ago. It was very hard to remove or re-locate poi earlier, but as of now its actually doable. So Im trying to look over the region, and this one caught my eye. Its very likely there are no tigers there during the winter, but staff would asumable not be inside the fenced area for exploring (or any of the other critherias). Thankyou for ghe reply, I will send this one for removal.
Looks totally safe, for the tiger
