Recently added PokéStops disappeared and marked as duplicates — looking for clarity

I’m honestly just looking for some clarity here, because I’m confused and a little discouraged.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve been actively contributing Wayspots at Duckworth Park / Pearl River Landing in Columbia, MS. This park was extremely underrepresented when I started — a few main buildings and one gym — despite having a full disc golf course, picnic areas, river access, and walking paths.
Several of my submissions (specifically disc golf basket markers) were accepted and appeared in Pokémon GO. I even created a walking route that passed directly through Basket 11 and Basket 17, so I know these locations existed in-game at one point.
Recently, those PokéStops are no longer visible, and a new submission for Hole 17 was marked as a duplicate. When I check the Ingress Intel Map, I don’t see an existing Portal at that location either, which is what’s confusing me.
I’m not trying to argue approvals or force anything into the game — I just want to understand: • What Wayspot is it being considered a duplicate of? • Why would an accepted and active location disappear? • Is this related to S2 cell limits or cross-game visibility?
I’ve spent a lot of time walking the park, taking proper photos, and submitting things that meet the eligibility criteria because I genuinely want to improve this park for the community. I’m still willing to contribute — I just need to understand what’s happening so I’m not unintentionally wasting effort.
Any insight from Niantic or experienced Wayfarers would be appreciated.

If there is one wayspot for the disc golf course, the others would be considered duplicates

Ingress and Wayfarer are no longer part of the same company so the maps are no longer synced

In my experience, Niantic tends to remove only the game locations when these are incorrectly accepted and later reported, leaving the wayspot to be marked as duplicate if resubmitted.

Edit: please don’t continue to resubmit these, or you risk sanctions against your account.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn’t aware the Wayspots could remain after game removal. I’ll avoid resubmitting those and focus on new eligible points in the park.

To be clear, I don’t know that this happened in this case. I could not find this disc golf course on the map to check. If you have a location, I can see if the Wayspots remain. Or you can check in the nomination map screen when you go to submit nearby. The nearby feature for the nomination map does not have a large range, so you have to be right at the location for it to pick it up as an unused Wayspot.

Hey, I really appreciate you offering to check. Thank you for that.

The location I am talking about is Duckworth Park in Columbia, Mississippi, specifically the Pearl River Landing Disc Golf Course.
Here is a coordinate for one of the locations that appears to be missing now, in case it helps you look it up directly:
31.277342, -89.854047

This section of the park previously had multiple PokéStops and at least one Gym tied to disc golf features along this stretch. I know they existed because I used them regularly and they were part of an active route that I personally walked many times.
What first caught my attention was when I went to nominate nearby recently and nothing showed up as conflicting. That was unusual for this area and made me realize something may have changed behind the scenes.
I am not trying to resubmit anything right now or push duplicates. I just want to understand whether these Wayspots still exist in the database or if they were removed entirely, so I know what the correct and safe next step is.
Thanks again for taking the time to look. I really do appreciate the help.

Yes it does appear that the Wayspot was completely removed. I know it is hard to lose Pokestops and Gyms, but thank you for sharing this. This may have been a property owner request then.

Per the clarification already cited, there should only be one Wayspot for the entire Disc Golf course.

A disc golf course should be represented by a single wayspot, not one per basket. Disc Golf Basket – Hole 13 (Columbia Water represents the entire course and all other such wayspots are duplicates.

Incidentally, this area has other problems with duplicate wayspots. The nearby playground has a wayspot for each piece of equipment. Fortunately, they all cluster so aren’t resulting in many surplus pokestops.

I see this one live. Is it a pokestop?

(Edit - addressed by @salixsorbus before this post posted.)

As @salixsorbus pointed out, the same rule applies to playgrounds. This is the second post recently that has had a cluster of incorrectly accepted individual pieces of equipment. The disc golf clarification has already been linked, so i will just link the playground one:
