This, as I noted in another post, would be up to PoGo, not Wayfarer, to implement, since it would be an in-game feature. Wayfarer just provides the database map, and it seems that PoGo is being kind enough to provide them with some extra stats for this email.
What a fun idea. Thanks to the designers who came up with the idea and the devs for implementing this. Really looking forward to getting an email!
@NianticTintino Got a good question for you. What email address will these emails be coming from?
There is someone saying they havenât been receiving the PoGo marketing emails since Feb 2024, and doing some research, these seem to come from a different email address than the Wayfarer emails. Hereâs the thread Iâm referring to:
This would be helpful to know so we can add it to our address books/safe senders list, if needed.
Edit: This may not be correct, but itâs seems like it could be something that also needs to be turned on. @NianticTintino hopefully can confirm. Just seems weird that there are 2 settings for events/offers, 1 being in Account and the other being in Notifications.
Ok, another thing that should be added is that you need to have notifications turned on for the device you use in order to select that you want to receive the emails. I decided to opt-in to the emails today, but I couldnât turn them on until I enabled notifications on my phone.
This is a little weird, since this isnât a push notification, but if you have notifications turned off, you will not be able to turn on the marketing emails. Hopefully this can be something to looked into for the future.
Who said it was designers that came up with the idea?⊠Lots of ideas come from the community.
Even if a community member suggested it someone on the Wayfarer team had to design and implement how it would work. If this comes as a plain text email Iâll believe designers werenât involved!

This is great for the creators, but itâs a shame there arenât any in-game rewards for completing the Wayfarer Medal. Costumes and poses as rewards are highly motivating for players, which would increase the number of players actively reviewing and adding POIs, and thus, speed up the completion of nominations. Additionally, in-game rewards for reviews, such as an incubator for 50 ratings, would be very helpful.
Yes I know the rules
This is AJHZ by the way
I need a Wayfarer outfit in Pokemon GoâŠ
Hey @DTrain2002, sorry for the late night reply. Great question though so had to hop on. So this should be going to the email you use to log into your PokĂ©mon GO account. If you have multiple emails linked then itâll send to whichever one you usually get emails in.
Thanks for linking the bug report. Iâll take a look into it and see what I can find regarding the PokĂ©mon GO Emails. Thanks!
Absolutely! We canât take all the credit. We (the team and our Ambassadors) are always looking for great community feature requests, ideas, suggestions, etc. This one is a big pat on the back for all of you and us <3
That doesnât really answer my question. What Iâm asking is what email address will the stat emails be coming from? Will they be coming from a Wayfarer email address, or a PoGo email address?
I ask, as I found that PoGo emails typically come from a different email address than Wayfarer emails, per a Google search.
The people who add POIs are called agents. A holdover from Ingress, I think. Maybe a coat with the Wayfarer logo, referring to agents? It would be cool if they were based on the agents from Bladerunner 2049.
Explorer tends to be the term used for people who submit Wayspots on Nianticâs pages like below.
Agent tends to be for those playing Ingress, though now Scout is used as a replacement for Explorer in Recon.
Yeah I think that works too. I believe Tintinoâs posts often call us âexplorersâ which is probably why I thought of that
He does. My personal opinion on that (which isnât worth much) is that âExplorerâ is linked to 1 of the criterion, so it feels awkward. From an English perspective, I just really donât want to call both the program and the people who participate in the program âWayfarerâ - I think thatâs clunky. And, of course, Agent/Trainer are game terms.
The internet is telling me that a Wayfarer is a person who travels on foot.
A Wayfinder is a person navigating to a particular location.
An Explorer is a person who explores an unfamiliar area; an adventurer.
Maybe we should be Waymappers? Sigh⊠map⊠I miss the map.
I tend to use the terms âExplorers and Wayfindersâ interchangeably. I donât know or understand how these terms translate to other languages though. I think most people here tend to travel on foot to particular locations that are unfamiliar to us. With the purpose of nominating real-life locations to be included on the Niantic/Scopley map.
Hey @DTrain2002,
Theyâll be going to your PokĂ©mon GO email. Sorry that wasnât clear.
Attempt #âŠ.3?
It should be coming from niantic@email.nianticlabs.com. Hope this helps!
