Recovery of Local Wayspots

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Various wayspots

  • Location (lat/lon):35.1487657,126.7731050

  • City:광주광역시

  • Country:대한민국

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): All of a sudden all wayspots got weird location in one day. I was wondering if it could be recovered if there was any data left in this area. I’m baffled that the location got weird in large quantities. It suddenly became strange from October 11th in Korean time, so I hope it will be restored before October 10th.

According to your screenshot, there is at least 1 pokestop/gym per level 17 cell as it should be.

I mean, those wayspots were originally not where they are right now, but in a day, a lot of wayspots turned into weird locations, not just one or two, but several.

You’ll need to provide specific examples. It’s impossible to analyze some wayspots are in weird locations. I took a look at the database and the ones I can see appear to be placed appropriately. It’s not always easy to tell looking at the map, but they seem OK.

If any are particularly incorrect, you should report them to be moved to their real world locations in game.

Without actual coordinates it will be impossible to do anything. If any one way spot is in an incorrect position, you can request that it be moved to a correct position.

Are these new positions incorrect or are they located on the real world place of the way spot they represent?

Chances are the game board was incorrect and reset to be correct.

For the wayspots clearly shown on satellite they match on intel, so those do not require a move.

I agree, everything seems to be accurately placed from those that can be seen.

Then, in order to return to the original place, do I have to apply for coordinate movement one by one of wayspots? Do I have to designate a new coordinate because the record of the coordinates that were previously located disappeared?

You should only request a wayspot location edit if the current location is not reflecting the accurate location. From as far as I could see from satellite view, there are no misplaced wayspots in that area, so requesting a move for an already correctly located wayspot is not appriopriate.

I don’t know how it’s shown in the satellite picture, but don’t you think some of them seem to be in strange positions when you look at the first map picture you’ve written? For example, there are signs in places marked with roads. There’s a comprehensive problem with a little bit of things that are slightly distorted and a lot of weird things, so the cell is twisted and too many wayspots are not visible.

This is how it looks for me, I don’t see signs on roads.

First of all, thank you for showing me the picture because I can’t see the image of the satellite picture in Korea at the moment.
There seem to be some parts where satellite pictures are subtly wrong due to the angle.
And sometimes the cell is moved to maliciously overlap, even though the previous position is not the wrong position.

First, the wayspot currently located at (35.148645, 126.772901) is not in the correct position. If the past location is not recorded (35.1485706, 126.7730269) is the correct location.

Secondly, the target map (35.148573, 126.773987) located in (35.148492, 126.773904) is more appropriate. This target can be seen in some satellite images, so you can refer to it. However, I found out from the current satellite images, but satellite images seem to be completely in the right position, but in reality, it seems a little wrong. I think satellite images should be lightly referred to.

Third, Target, located at (35.148744, 126.771745), is a small park. It was originally located at (35.148860, 126.771840), but it moved. Do we need to move the wayspot on the side to overlap with CELL? Wouldn’t the bench and the original location in the center of the small park be better? Like someone maliciously moved CELL on top.
Also, the park’s signage is located on Park Road (35.147584, 126.771978), located on (35.147537, 126.771687), but it is currently designated in a different location. (35.147584, 126.771978), wouldn’t the location be more appropriate?

It’s gotten too long, so I’ll write it down separately. Is there a reason why only certain areas have been changed weirdly all of a sudden?

So you will need to submit changes in the game, not here. Also, you will probably need geotagged photos as evidence that the moves you suggest are more accurate physical locations of the way spot. Note, attempting to move a wayspot off of its real world location is considered abuse and could result in sanctions. So, only suggest the moves if they make the location more accurate.

I also wanted to sign up for a move in the game, but Wayspots, which are no longer visible within the game, can’t sign up for a move, so I wrote first to ask if I could roll back the data in that area. It’s a shame because it seems to be a malicious change to show as few wayspots as possible in the game. Some have even been changed to the wrong position. Why do things that usually exist in a certain range change all at once?

This sounds like either Niantic was doing a clean up in the area to correct density, or that a report was filed using one of the forms at the top here to report a lot at the same time.

If any new locations are actually incorrect, I would recommend using help chat to request location edits for Wayspots that you can’t see in your game. You can access help chat through the help menu on the wayfarer site. Go to Niantic Wayfarer and a text bubble will pop up.

As others have said, only request location edits if these are actual real life corrections, not just to make them appear in Pokemon Go. They will need evidence.

You can verify these Wayspots still exist with the toggle in the nomination map screen in Pokemon Go. They will show up as exclamation points if they are not being used in that game.
