Rejected appeals for updating a park sign name due to the park being renamed

A local park in my area was renamed Texas All-Star Legacy Park as a part of the of 2024 MLB all-star game festivities where the Texas Rangers did community service and sponsored a local park. The park changed names from Senter Park to Texas All-Star Legacy Park.

I was successful in changing the description and had a updated photo as the sign was replaced with a brand new brick sign in the same location as the previous park sign.

I was told by an reviewer on the appeals team that I was submitting edits for an object that did not match the original. The park still functions as it previously did and they did renovate the park but nothing major has changed.

The information provided to appeals:
https://www.arlingtontx.gov/city_hall/departments/parks_recreation/parks_trails/park_finder/all_star_legacy_park#:~:text=This%20renovation%20of%20the%20original%20Senter

“The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, the City of Arlington, Major League Baseball, and Corey and Mady Seager collaborated on the MLB & Texas Rangers All-Star Legacy Park and the Corey Seager Batting Cages in 2024. This renovation of the original Senter Park was part of the All-Star Legacy projects celebrating the 94th MLB All-Star Game, presented by Mastercard, held on July 16, 2024, at Globe Life Field.”

This edit is to update the name of the park which changed in 2024. It still is a baseball centered park just updated name change due to the Texas Rangers sponsoring the renovated park.

Google maps has the new name. The new sign for the park was approved by the community already as a photo on this waypoint. It isn’t a major change other than updating the name of the park.

Local college news paper reporting on the updates:

included is the appeal and the photo change. The only difference between the update is the two fields received new fencing the tree was removed and concrete laid behind the sign.

Well yeah, when you try to repurpose one park into another park this is what happens. :person_shrugging:

The correct procedure is remove the park that no longer exists and resubmit the new park.

Everything I have seen regrading the park was updated including google maps. The only thing outdated is the streetview is from before the park went through renovations. It was rededicated still the same location for the park just a name change.

Personally I wouldn’t consider this as repurposing, is more like an update. The park is going to continue being the same exact park, where you can continue doing the exactly same things. The name just changed and the surrounding area to the name sign, as they explained, was improved. The OP shared all the information necessary to prove the changes.

I would really like to understand why the Appeal reviewer decided this, maybe @NianticAaron or @NianticAtlas can have a look to this case and maybe, I don’t know, clarify what the OP should do, maybe talk with the Appeal reviewer or, in the best case, consider this wasn’t a repurpose and reconsider the decission that was taken.

This was an incorrect decision. I have updated the Wayspot to reflect the correct title. Thanks,
