You may not be able to improve it to get it accepted, as it doesn’t look like it meets key criteria - Social, Exploration, Exercise.

It is just a water pump. Exercise is clearly not relevant, so it would either have to meet Social or Exploration criteria. It isn’t something that is assisting people to be social and it isn’t something that people would explore and show to others as an interesting find.

If you do feel it meets Social or Exploration criteria, can you explain how?

Hi @eell1997 – the Wayfarer criteria require that each Wayspot is a great place to explore, exercise, or socialize. Is there anything special about this particular water pump that makes it a notable point of interest for people to explore?

I would say that the exploring criteria fits here. The water pump is unique in a way because of it’s style. They are were more common earlier and this one is also functional.

Exploring can be more than just visit a park or go to a museum. It can also be the little things like this water pump for example.

I agree that exploring can be more than going to a park or a museum – but I’m not familiar with these water pumps, and other reviewers might not be either. Technically, everything is worth exploring, but the Wayfarer criteria require a bit more specificity than that.

When I think about the Exploration criteria, I ask myself whether the point of interest is worth taking a detour to see. For example, if a family member from another city were visiting, and if you were taking a walk together, would you take a longer path to point out this water pump? If yes, why? What makes it worth the extra steps? Providing this context to reviewers would be helpful.

Your nomination appears to be an antique manual cast iron water pump (with no related plaque or signboard)

You need to be able to clearly demonstrate why your nomination is worthy of further exploration. I think that might be difficult to do but here’s some thought starters for you…….

What is the history of this water pump? Does it have any direct link to the historical spa culture of your town? Can you provide any weblinks that support the historical significance of this water pump?

Good luck
