Ive stuck this in review support, but really im just complaining about thw bad rejection from emily lol. Its metal doves on the wall of a marie currie building (not getting in the way of emergency services, i checked), so an artistic piece

I am certain that this looked like real birds in front of a blank wall to the ai. I would use an appeal on this one.

I would absolutely appeal as well (I sympathize with the frustration).
To be fair, in person they are surprisingly detailed lol. Yeah ill use an appeal on this (whenever i get them back)

Yes hopefully an appeal will do the trick and then that will hopefully feedback to Emily.
If not …then maybe a close up of the bottom 4 to bring out the detail might work.

Who is Emily & where did this name come from.
Each time I see the name posted the tune “Alice…Alice…who the bleep is Alice” comes into my head. Whose responsible for the name.

I was told they were doves, ive also been told that doves are a subset of pigeons lol
Yeah, the rock dove is the wild ancestor of the pigeon, the only differences are doves are smaller, some have a different diet and they’re a bit more wild whereas pidgeons have been domesticated for 1000s of years and see humans as things who provide food so you see them in urban areas. It’s the same thing as how we got dogs by domesticating wolves
I believe that @26thDoctor came up with the name “Emily” on the old forum, playing with the letters shortly after we were told that we should call the Niantic ai “ML”

It’s in the Glossary
It is a widely used nickname for the Machine Learning software.
AI for artificial intelligence is a widely familiar abbreviation and people naturally used that. It is as Thib posted a specific type. But ML is not a widely recognised abbreviation. For fun the community adopted Emily as a term. Everyone is free to use whichever term they prefer. Wayfarer staff use it too.

I think the distinction was that it’s Machine Learning as opposed to Artificial Intelligence.
Call it Alice if it pleases you… Automated Alice even

please note that i was not trying to start an argument, just trying to remember the origin story for the name as per the question. i think that is how and when and why it came about.

I don’t see any cause here for an argument @cyndiepooh or @elijustrying just remember I’m a new wayfarer like many are that join for short periods to complain about there Wayspot/Pokestop/Gym/Portal/Pikmin Fruit Tree etc…and then there’s some like me that is intrigued to stick around and learn about all the madness you have cooked up since wayfarer came into existence and to join in and help out.
Now while I say I am new I have been active since 2019 across a few products on and off but Ingress was the one that I stuck with and back then Wayfarer didn’t exist and was called OPR (Operation Portal Recon) and is still referred to that today and it was a whole different system and much better and an exclusive feature to us explorers.
So learning about “Emily” is just something new for me and I’m grateful for the articles which I’m bookmarking to read later when not going through the reviews.
I just had to ask incase it was a real person eg…“NianticEmily” as back then we had a NianticCasey & NianticBrian to irritate/communicate with and other random staff using Admin Style accounts to reply.
