Rejection > Artwork/Architecture > Temporary/Seasonal or Not Distinct

Hi,

I am at a loss with this one as to how the community thought these were either temporary or not distinct. Any help with how I could do more to convince them otherwise would be greatfully appreciated.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Cheers,

Hmmmā€¦ theyā€™re a bit hard to find on StreetView but they are there and Iā€™d say they are certainly a potentially eligible nomination looking at the text.

I think a bit more detail in the description (rather than the supporting text) may help. The title is also uninspiring, see if thereā€™s an official name or perhaps reference the artist. Remember To Use Title Case. Donā€™t use a full-stop in the title either

We canā€™t control the miserable weather, but the main photo is a bit gloomy and perhaps could use some tweaking. Perhaps concentrate on a portion of the ironwork and not the whole lot, a detail of a few of the panels might look better.

Thereā€™s a fair chance that it would get accepted if you re-submitted it as-is, but sometimes a few tweaks can get it over the line.

Thank you for your helpful reply.

I found out about these as they were included in an online article covering an ā€˜art walkā€™ and it took me ages to find them, even though they are next to a main public route, because the photo in the article shows them only against the sky and ā€œMaltings Vineyardā€ is to the north of their actual location.

This was actually my second nomination. The first got rejected by ML, I assume because the photos I originally took (where it was a brighter day) had some flats visible in the background, so the ML must have thought it was residential.

I donā€™t think the sun has been out here for over a week now! The next time it does I will re-visit and get some updated photos along the lines you have suggested. The article unhelpfully just titles them as ā€œRailingsā€, perhaps ā€œAbingdonā€™s Nine Motifs Railingsā€?

I actually think this is a good title for this nomination, Iā€™d personally use this over the one in the screenshot.

I also think your supporting info could be reworked a little into a great description (minus the last sentence about accessibility)! Thereā€™s a ton of great info that I think deserves to be included on the POI description in-game, plus there are lots of reviewers who wonā€™t read past the description (if they even read that), so give them that info right up front. Use the supporting section to clarify which criteria your nomination meets, and how. Explain how to verify the location if itā€™s not obvious via satellite or street view (or even if it is). Counter any potential reasons for rejection that you can foresee. Include a link to the article mentioning them.

Good luck with this one, I think itā€™s got a lot of potential!

I would avoid the word railings. That invokes that itā€™s a utility.
Iron work or metal artwork are better These phrases put the emphasis on art and individual production.

Also a nice straight closeup of some of motifs would have more impact

Now you can see the work involved.

I would use almost your whole supporting statement as the description

I really like your original title, but like Eli said maybe as Abingdonā€™s Nine Motifs Ironworks?

Keep trying with this one - its fantastic!! It sound definitely be a waypoint

Thank you all for your replies. I have now resubmitted with the following changes:

  • new main photo (still no sun of course, but a close-up of five of the arches)
  • title changed as suggested
  • description replaced by most of the supporting information
  • supporting information refers to ironwork being part of a town centre art trail and provides a link to the document

Hopefully it will be third time lucky, I will let you know the outcome!

Cheers,
L15.

Niceā€¦ thatā€™s a really good wayspot IMO. Adding it to the game helps bring attention to the work that went into it.
