Hello everyone, I would like to ask for advice and guidance regarding a serious incident.
A fellow trainer suffered a shoulder dislocation while raiding/playing Pokémon GO. This injury occurred because the two Gyms involved are located on the main road, right where heavy industrial vehicles constantly pass by.
I am trying to file a request to relocate these existing Gyms. I have tried various methods, including in-game reports and emailing Niantic directly, but the results have been nil (zero response or action).
What steps should I take next to prevent this kind of incident from happening again?
Does this imply that Niantic does not care about player safety?
I have absolutely no access to the owner of the area where these Gyms are currently located.
Can anyone help me with this matter?
The current Gym location is a clear safety hazard, and I need help getting Niantic to take action!
I see that its possible to correct the location further inside building to prevent similar thing for happening. The post office location is abit off .. As indonesian player, i understand that traffic might be hectic but its still player responsibility to find safe place to stop before playing pogo
Yg kantor pos agak terlalu dekat jalan. Yg kantor pos yakin bs dipindah. Yg masjid sebenernya sudah ok. Kalau request edit hati2. Request edit dipindah takutnya dianggap manipulasi apalagi kalau beda cell.
It is very kind of you to take on this task following the incident, which I’m sure was upsetting for those that were there.
Looking for a positive, I hope that this horrible accident has made people more aware of the need to put their own safety first whilst playing. If there were a lot of people then they need to consider that they are thinking about safety not just about their own playing.
It was for me a big positive that the interaction distance was kept at the longer distance as it really helped keep larger groups spread out.
Again it is good of you to take this personal interest in the safety of fellow players, it shows your deep care for the community. But in the end it is not on you. There are tips about how you might encourage a greater awareness in the group and use that interaction distance to its full and this is something you can reiterate.
It’s great that you have considered the location of the gyms and changing them. For all that has been said it does not look like there is a case for removal of these gyms. If that is the case hopefully this incident remains a very unfortunate one off.
This Gym can be accessed from a publicly accessible location and therefore does not currently meet our criteria for removal.
Be safe and alert at all times, abide by local laws, and respect the locations you visit and people you meet during your exploration. If you’re not certain you have the right to access a location or are not certain it is safe to access, please do not make any attempts to do so. As a player or any other member of the community, you must respect access restrictions, never trespass, or in any manner gain or attempt to gain access to any property or location where you do not have the right or permission to be. Review and follow the Trainer Guidelines at all times while playing Pokémon GO to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone!
