So I’ve been playing Pokemon Go since 2016. I’ve been everywhere over the world while also keeping the game in my pocket. But never have I ever seen 8 gyms this close to each other in a residential area. I get it that people want to optimize their gameplay by getting lots of raids done without near 0sec time loss and that’s fine. But not in a residential area. I’ve scoped out the area during S Raikou Raid day. A mall cool, a park great, but not where people live. Having a couple of powerstops or just pokestops is fine.
So I spoke to some players asking how this happened and apparently this is the second cluster of gyms as the other ones got removed by some players since the maker of those gyms moved those old ones around their house. Since its removal someone else in the neighborhood created the current Gym locations around their house instead, making it as it is today.
While also playing we got targeted by the police and when I questioned that it became clear that even the police knows of this spot and the reasoning behind it. As apparently in the past they had to step in and remove the players from the location.
So that being said can I appeal here to remove these gyms entirely or let them be replaced by pokestops? As residents did point out that they don’t like big groups of people around their house nosing around as zombified players looking at their phone for 3 hours straight. This way there would less people and less disturbances within the area.
Location is in the Netherlands, Delft, Tanthof-Oost
Community Group Campfire: Tanthof-Oost Delft
I am not here to provoke the players, but I am here looking at this community from a residential standpoint and unnecessary calls to the police so they can continue to do what matters. At the end of the day it is just a game.
Hey @Bruineboontjes
I actually know the community and the ambassadors there.
I helped them out quite bit when there were gyms being moved with abuse, so I know what you are talking about.
You cannot appeal these gyms here, once the gyms are standing and do not meet removal criteria they cannot be downgraded.
When playing Pokemon Go, be sure to respect local laws under every circumstance, this is what Niantic also points out. This reason is not enough to remove the gyms.
If you still want these gyms removed you need to contact the homeowners around that area who find it annoying that people come there.
They can fill out this form and Niantic will look at their request and credentials and decide to take action or not.
I strongly recommend talking to the ambassadors as well, so they know this is coming.

I’m not at all familiar with the area so my comments are more general.
A ‘house’ typically implies a single family private residential property (SFPRP). This is absolutely something that can be reported (through the game interface, help chat, or abuse form). This would be reviewed by staff and removed if determined to be SFPRP.
Other types of residences can support wayspots if in a communal area - playgrounds/gyms/pool etc at a condominium or apartment complex. Typically a condominium or apartment complex is not inherently eligible itself without something special or noteworthy. Though sometimes the may get the. In these cases it can be hard to report and remove as a player. Though property owners/management can request removal.

There are actually around 12 gyms by that area.
And most of them are seperate playgrounds or unique bridges which are eligible.
I will try to be as neutral as possible, but I am supporting this community whenever possible
Quick look at the map and it does seem to be working as normal.
It just happens to have all the Gyms around the area where the L14 cells meet.

I am the creator of specified campfire group
I highly doubt you got “targeted” they regularly patrol and pass by our area for another reason i shall not disclose here that has nothing to do with us. Police just having a short friendly chat is normal if they see us playing the game, like any other activities outside in group setting this was the same before the community existed.
None of my admins, nor ambassadors are aware of any of this either, neither has the local police officer assigned to our neighborhood contacted us. We established contact ourselves a long time ago, so they have contact details for our groups team in case there are any issues.
Not aware of any complaints, most living in our neighborhood know exactly who we are, Regularly have people walk up to us during and outside meetings and it has been always positive.
if there are issues with people in our area/community please contact any admin/ambassador in our group via campfire with details so we can sort it out asap.
Hi @Bruineboontjes ,
I have edited your post and would strongly suggest refraining from personal call-outs directed at specific individuals. Thank you for your understanding.

Firstly, I didn’t mean point at a person, it is community effort that made this happen at the end of the day.
Secondly, I am looking at this from a residential standpoint. Having the police over for people playing PoGo in a residential area can be quite unsettling for some.
I doubt any resident knows about the form so thank you for that @AMG7070 . And damn 12 gyms?! Campfire only showed me 8. Tha’t even worse.
The creation of those locations is fine for poke stops making them also to be gyms just attracts to many players in a small area. Compared to City gameplay, residential gameplay should not be like this as it is. It was fine if it was in a park or some other open space public area to have so many gyms located
you are not making an equal point here.
Yes, I know the gyms location might be questionable with the actual realworld location, but that does not mean they do not belong there.
Park owners or any other person in cities could have as much of a burden because of these locations, so it does not mean the gyms need to be removed just because they are close to the streets and normal houses.
This is the unequal statement I am talking about.
The resident are free to use the form I linked, but please have some courtasy with the community there. The gyms could remain in the same spot, but the raids could be turned off, that is not what everybody wants
