Restore wayspot incorrectly removed

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Little Green Library
  • Location (lat/lon): 47.871784, -121.798244
  • City: Sultan WA USA
  • Additional Information (if any):
This is a request to reinstate. For some background, this little library was previously located solidly within PRP and was rightfully removed. After that happened, the HOA folks in this neighborhood physically moved it to its current location and then it was nominated again. The new location is within the grass median strip that by precedent is not considered PRP by niantic. Additionally, the location is not in front of the single family home on either side but rather is in front of a small common area that has access to a partially maintained nature trail that runs behind the houses. From the sat view it is quite clear that this segment of land is different than the rest of the strip of houses which all have directly abutting back fences. For these reasons, the second removal was incorrect and this wayspot should be restored. Thank you.

Who is responsible for that strip? Does the homeowner mow, take care of it? If so, it is functionally part of their yard. If the city maintains it, that’s completely different.

not relevant. as i said, there’s strong precedent for this. the team can certainly look at the history of removal appeals i’ve made in the past to see this.

While technically not relevant, that is part of the green area maintained by the HOA.

Completely relevant. The staff need t have to dig into every city’s rules and regulations. If it’s part of the yard it’s part of the yard.

your commentary here is not necessary, thank you for understanding.

Seems to be directly in front of the house still.

Community members are free to post their observations. You don’t have to respond to me if you don’t like to. But I do have questions about the claim being made. That’s legitimate.

@Leedle95 i think that covers you ceoncern very well.

There is no such ruling.

Yeah, it just look like it is. It looks still in front of the house. It wouldn’t really matter if the first comment, which is not true wasn’t made about Niantic is clear that the strip of land doesn’t count. There may be precedent, but I haven’t ever seen any formal statement that explicates in all cases this is true.

Wow. I am one of the most adamant people I know about NOT allowing Wayspots in front of houses, but I would have accepted this. Hoping the screenshot will help convince others.

There no such ruling the other way either. Whether that strip of land belongs to the city or homeowner varies greatly by jurisdiction. In many places property ownership goes to the curb and in some places to the middle of the street. Easements are not ownership and people misconstrue that on here.

Then why make such statement as fact when its merely a non relevant opinion?

Because I was countering the assertion that there is. I am confused. Are we not supposed to ask questions?

How is countering what I believe to be an inaccurate assertion about a general Niantic ruling a non-relevant opinion? It’s directly relevant.

We can agree to disagree, but we should not silence each other.

I had a giant stack of LFL reports and renames around a particular city. Every single one within a grass strip like this was left in the system, every single one on the edge of the yard against the sidewalk was removed (even the ones for which i was simply appealing a rejected title edit).

Like I said, the team can see this history and that’s the precedent i’m referring to which is why I kindly asked you to not weigh in.

If I could make these appeals in a non-public way i would happily do so, I wrote my post to niantic, not to anyone in the comments.

I would have rejected it. A raid there would be a nuisance to people in those houses.

I’ve often wished these appeals could be locked until Niantic makes their findings. To be real, none of our opinions really matter until NIA makes their rulings.

You cannot tell them that. They are entitled to their opinion on a public forum.
