2 year old Wayspot removed without reason

  • Wayspot Title: Little Free Library
  • Location (lat/lon): 35.64483640838903, -106.01755243532052
  • City: Santa Fe
  • Country: USA
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): no such email received
  • Additional Information (if any): This wayspot was submitted and accepted almost 2 years ago, but was removed (at least in Go) today. It is for a little free library that is on the public sidewalk by an apartment building. No single family homes or private businesses close to it. No reason I can think of as to why it should be removed.

I see there are no way spots in the area. It could be that the property owner asked for it to be removed.

I asked the property manager of the apartment today and they said they did not contact Niantic about it. They are aware of the little free library and approve of it

Hi there!

I’ve been looking around on Google Street View but can’t see a Little Free Library anywhere. Have you checked out to see if it’s still there, and if so can you take new pictures? Niantic allows requests to reinstate removed POI but they’ll want a fresh photo that supports the existence.

Yes I can go take photos (tomorrow as it’s getting dark here now). Should I just upload the photo to this thread?

Yes! It should be reviewed by an admin within a few days.

This is the LFL in question. And it doesn’t look like a permanent structure to me. I doubt a photo showing it at the location will suffice. We have ample information suggesting that it doesn’t exist not permanently atleast.

So it was removed as a POI because it is not on streetview? It might have been temporarily removed for maintenance/repair?
I took photos with the current date and tried to show that it is staked into the ground. The box itself can seemingly be unscrewed from the stakes.

Dude, that is not “staked into the ground.” That is placed on the ground and leaning against a tree because it can’t support its own weight.

That is an outdoor mailbox. If someone decided to make that a LFL, it can only hold 2 or 3 kids books, which defeats the purpose of a LFL.

Absolutely. We have evidence apart from the street-view suggesting that the object is not permanent. We standby our decision to retire the Wayspot.
