Rewards and Codes

Some advice based on past experience

The published information is…

There are thousands of participants in the challenge so it is a lot to distribute and previous experience is that it happens in waves.
Please dont panic when you hear of others getting codes and you haven’t. You are likely to be in a different batch.

Do not post a screenshot of the code anywhere or you are likely to lose it.

The reward codes come via email.
This should be the email associated with logging in to Wayfarer however each year there have been email problems - a different email or spam folder etc.
So as a first check do look at all emails that have been associated with Niantic and spam / junk folders.

If after the 30th April you believe you met the criteria for an award and have not received one the as the quote above says you are welcome to post here in the forum. Staff will then typically send a DM.

The codes are only valid until 31st May - so don’t forget to cash them in.

Please do raise questions in this topic.

Also to add to what Eli has said, this is typically the way the rewards have come out, but it could be different this time.

  1. Pokémon GO-only Wayfarers get an email
  2. Ingress-only Wayfarers get an email
  3. Wayfarers with an eligible account in both games get an email

As noted, it may work differently this time but don’t worry if your Pokémon GO-only Wayfarer pal gets an email and you haven’t

Errr.. 1 2 3 all get an email right? Haha

Yes, they would all get an email

I think what @PkmnTrainerJ was saying is that they usually send the PoGo only wayfarers 1st, then Ingress only, then both game wayfarers…

Just a reminder to those that use Apple ID and have chosen the Hide My Email option, you may need to check to see if you have set up you relay email address properly. Seemed like this was an issue during the edits challenge. More info can be found here:

And yes, PoGo only players tend to get reward emails first, then Ingress only players, with those who play both games getting their emails last. This was my first challenge being a both player, so I know I’ll be in the last group this time around.

They have ended the contest a day before, so why they start distributing code after 24, if they have ended it prior of the date shouldn’t they start a day before, and i dont think so it would take a total of three days to disturbutr code, that they have already done in the past its not like a new system they have to develop from scratch, they just have to pressa button maybe that will start the process, if reward distribution is taking that much long with the amount of servers they have and manpower, its a miracle that game survive untill now

#i want my codes. I have waited patiently but when is code arriving, its been 3 days, they ended the contest early why code arrival is taking time, dont tell me they are goona change the rewarda like the change our reward for a radar, or is it a scam for us to do there unpaid labor??

You need to be patient. It was noted:

We are only on 27th April here, so still plenty of time for them to be sent.

thank you for reply, but wait patiently is not should be the goto excuse, and why should be wait its not like they are preparing a meal for us. They have known in advance when the 3 tier reach and from ending the contest how hard is to send reward codes in an automated email not like they have to hand written on it.
ps they thrive because gaming community is impatient if all gamers are patient believe me they are goona go broke the next day.
If they have so much issue on sending simple reward in email, and code generation,

then the best way is for them is if they should just automatically activate the codes in our game that they can do as they know our emails and from that our gaming profile and its not goona take this long for everyone to receive codes, they will save money and the excuse that code generation take times (like they are generating manually )of codes generation and sending to us too

Personally if I get told I’m expecting a delivery between 9am and 11am (April 24th-30th) I’m not chomping at the bit at 9:02am continually asking where it is.

If I don’t receive it by 11am (30th) then I’ll follow up with the delivery service (Niantic) but see no reason to do so before then.

Just wait

As mentioned in a previous answer about the challenge a large number took part with a different rewards to be determined and prepared to send.
A set timeframe was given so that everyone would be aware. Every challenge has operated this way with the codes sent during the window.
It is now an administrative matter. So please wait for the delivery of the email with codes. Nothing can be done to speed up that process.

Sending codes to circa 30k who took part is not just a case of pressing a button. There are technical considerations that needs to be taken into account. I believe the Wayfarer Team tried to send out codes to everyone a long time ago, can’t remember exactly details, but I vaguely recall that they had (caused) issues as a result. The steady rollout is the happy medium that ensures that we all get our codes in a timely manner and not cause any significant issues with them being sent out.

Thank you, kind of response i was looking for.

if they have send it in a batch then its good lets see when they arrive but they should advertise or notify us my email or a post probably.

I am feeling this way because i know there are going to be issue with redemption i dont wanna be late for in line for tickets to get this fixed.

But i am assuming they have made a system where the sending code process will start from a button click as they have already coded about it. its not first time they are doing this so probably they have a software of sort on their which will send automatically after execution.

Its not like they start coding it after 24 or they are preparing a manual content they send game notification to all people all the time

and its a valid critic given now we can expect delivery on same day some code generation and sending should not take more than a day from my point of view even in batch process given how much better servers they have

To counter your point… if they were going to notify people by email that they were going to send the codes by email over a period of time, they would have just sent the codes instead. They announced it here on the forums because it was the best medium for them to advise the community without causing issues with their mail servers. Could they have posted on Social Media? I don’t know the answer to that question. I don’t know if they have advised the timeframes on Social Media as I haven’t checked.

Once the challenge had completed, they had to figure out how many people met the respective thresholds, pass the information onto the respective Ingress and Pogo Teams to generate the codes (The Wayfarer team based on my understanding don’t have the ability to produce the codes), and then the codes are distributed in phases based on the games played.

We could argue about the best ways of doing things, but I suspect some of them have already been considered. I wish there was a way to apply the rewards automatically, but the system we have now is the one that we have.

you are right i cannot do anything, or i can make a voice about it and let them heard me and do things faster. I think they are failing at a simple code generation task as if any problem arrise with codes when are they goona resolved it after code expiration dates.

Or maybe i haven’t take part in so much slow process of rewarda distribution my bad i appologies as i thought they could deliver things faster like in a day now its 3 days later its average reaponse and its passed too now its on bad delievery now i am goona wait as you said what can i do and you obviously dont know anything so you cannot do anything too

thanks for your reply,
as maybe they have sub divided everything maybe that is issue.

but they have all data saved in a database a simple 5 minute query could figure out the emails of the winners

and next 10 minute to make a email and send it to the respective game or they have made the system so complex that even the simple things like this which is planned by them weeks before is taking this much time.

Thank you.
A complexity that is not always obvious is that there are different groups of players involved. Pokémon Go, Ingress, and both. This makes ensuring that the right people get the right codes really important.
Nothing is ever as simple as someone would hope.
Hence they plan the timeframe and let everyone know.

Hopefully we will all get the codes soon…..just need to make space for the rewards. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
