Road signs are not eligible. They are pointed out on the criteria>rejection page
https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/criteria/rejection
And so many were getting through anyway that they were also mentioned in this clarification, that they are not trail markers.
So, that the First sign is ingame is because it is a Little Bit older an now other rules are active? In Pokémon go this road sign is an Arena
Basically, yes. It never met criteria, but I don’t believe that this meets removal criteria, which is different from acceptance criteria.
@kawin240 may be able to tell you more about the specific situation in Germany than I can.
These get often misunderstood.
The nominated object in Question from the live example with a photo that absolutely should have been rejected, is about the plaque below, not the street sign itself.
If it just has a street name it’s definitely ineligible, if it has one it’s heavily recommend to give all the info about it to highlight its value.
There’s no standard in the country. My city has these dedicated to local people of note starting from the middle ages.
Other places just have random signs with plaques like e.g. Nelson Mandela street, but these are very questionable if it has 0 ties to the place, culture or community, like in the example.
@CoolZero98 try to focus on the plaque below with your photos and text more. Street signs without any additional information are not acceptable. Also is a general rule of thumb, what you see in the game is not necessarily correct within in the rules, the example you show should never have been accepted because of the terribly tilted photo
Street signs are not POI, as many stated above.
Anyways, a memorial or informational plaque below a Street sign can be a POI.
It’s a plaque that honors a famous person, often tied to the local community, and is certainly an object that encourages exploring.
So the Question is: Is the submitted object the street sign - then it should be rejected - or is it the memorial/informational plaque, then it meets the criteria for exploration and can be eligible, and most likely is. One might be picky and say it needs to have some ties to the local community, and that makes plaques for people with no ties to the community weaker candidates for sure, but I don’t think this is something i would reject a memorial/infomational plaque attached to a street sign for (i wouldnt reject a memorial to Elvis Presley in Berlin for that either, so why do it here?)
Those informational signs are, sadly, weaker Candidates then memorial plaques, i think.
What I would do to improve the nomination would be:
Only little thing to improve, if still applicabe: category should be plaque (Plakette) too
