Is it possible to get it confirmed through someone in the local community who plays Pokémon GO?
it appears that the only 2 ways in which players can reliably check wayspots remotely are no longer up to date as the geospatial browser has now stopped syncing just like the ingress Intel map.
whatever map Aaron is able to use must still be up to date.
this is a perfect example of the confusion that results from not providing wayfarers with adequate tools.

Apparently Lightship/GSB is paused/frozen along with the Ingress side of things, this wasn’t in the communication, but okay.
Not in Scunthorpe, but Hull this time. The form of abuse is identical to the Scunthorpe abuse with the same main and supporting photo, with the pin on someone’s house.

I have had a few of these to review and I have rejected them as “Not Permanant”, the official site states a Start and End Date for the Trail. They had similar Elephants in Sheffied 2016, once the trail ended they where all removed and auctioned for charity.
Unfortunately, the Scunthorpe abuse is happening again. I got a submission roughly in the 53.539596,-0.581294 (GCQ8+VJ Scunthorpe, UK) area which looked dodgy, a look at the nearby wayspots in the map revealed several obvious fakes.
This was the submission:

I found this was stolen from 53.383232,-1.491391 in Sheffield..

I don’t know exactly where this is from, but the signs say “Leicestershire County Council” which is quite a distance from Scunthorpe, so fake.

Pretty sure I’ve seen this before. There’s no road in this location, so the photograph is impossible.
@NianticAaron or others in the Wayfarer team, this not only indicates someone making rogue submissions but also the existence of a voting ring.
Other wayfarers in the UK, if you see any submissions in the Scunthorpe area please check them carefully and also have a look at the surround wayspots.
it’s really disappointing to see this again. Wayfarer has never been good at preventing blatant abuse even though it feels like it should be possible. The Run Route markers I am very well aware of, and they only exist in and around Sheffield. I can’t claim any of these this time.
It really does look like the only way to get these through voting is by using a voting ring, since even a cursory glance at the map would immediately show that several of these are at fake locations. I struggle to believe that a high percentage reviewers are that lazy that they solely go by “that’s a pretty photograph”.
@shritwod If you don’t get the Wayfarer team on this thread, please keep trying and start a new one.
Good work on spotting these, interestingly I don’t see them in GSB but I dunno if GSB is still being weird with how it syncs/updates.
GSB no longer updates from Wayfarer.
Fair enough, at least it stays away from Ingress now they’re disconnected, I aren’t super fussed about wayfarer.
Well, I’m assuming it’s PoGo but Ingress submissions aren’t currently being processed.
