I spend the night at the Holiday Inn Morgantown - University Area in Morgantown, West Virginia, which is at least 5 states away from where I live and only something which will assist others since I am unlikely to stay here again. Once I entered the hotel through the main entrance to check in, a waterfall is across the room. I can show the photo I took for a nomination and the supporting photo. However, I leave in the morning and wish this to be accepted since the title and description will determine if it the nomination is accepted. I know a hotel is ineligible unless a Sponsored location and wouldn’t nominate one. The waterfall should be but I could use suggestions to help others. If it helps the hotel, that’s not the intent but simply helps the hotel. Here are the photos. Suggestions
I think you are overthinking this. You can just call it something like “Holiday Inn Lobby Fountain” and as a description just put that it is a tall decorative fountain in the Holiday Inn Morgantown - University Area lobby. Just don’t call it a waterfall since it’s not lol. You’re right that generic hotel chains like Holiday Inn are not eligible but you aren’t nominating the hotel, you’re nominating a fountain in the hotel lobby.
It’s not like the world’s most interesting nomination ever but it’s:
- Safely, publicly accessible to pedestrians (hotel lobbies are usually 24/7 also)
- Certainly looks permanent as long as the hotel is in business
- It’s fairly unique (I’ve not seen a floor-ceiling fountain like that in any hotel lobby)
- Could be a place to gather and socialize.
Some others on here might disagree with me but I would accept that nomination as long as the location is accurate and the title/desc have no typos. There is a chain hotel near me that has a fountain out front (outside) that is a wayspot. Outdoor vs indoor in the lobby isn’t really any different.
Agree, you may have to use an appeal, as many people incorrectly will say it is private property. But in my view certainly a good wayspot.
Proving location is likely to be the biggest issue.
If you use websubmit you can have 5 images.
Is it visible from the outside through window?
You could add more context photos too.
Submit and put on hold straightaway.
That way you can consider edits to the text before releasing.
Ask the staff if they know anything about the water feature, and its origins.
Ok, I will try those suggestions. Thanks!
A nomination with typos can be accepted, as long as the meaning can still be understood, and the typos don’t change the meaning to something not allowed.
It is always best to check for typos as a submitter, though. I agree with that.
