Hey y’all, I just woke up this morning to discover that a water fountain that I had submitted that sits on the balcony of a restaurant, is newly installed, is permanent and can be easily accessed rejected.
I have inquired about this on a couple of groups already, there is one commentary that has stated the following:
the Criteria are: 1. A great place for exploration
2. A great place for exercise
3. A great place to be social with others
A waterfountain doesn’t automatically check these criteria. Therefore, focus on the art instead or at least emphasize , why this particular fountain is a great gathering place
Can I get some clarification on this water? Fountains had initially always been eligible, but is this particular kind no longer?
Hello! First of all I’m moving this topic to Nomination Support to allow other people to try to help you giving you some feedback.
In my opinion it looks like a nice fountain and reading the context you gave of being on the balcony of a restaurant it let me know is not in a SFPRP. I would probably submit it under exploration criteria as it invites me to explore it, but being newly installed can explain if some reviewers weren’t able to find it.
I would probably try to take a better picture of the fountain or, maybe, try to nominate the restaurant of it’s a good place to socialize, maybe it can be easier to be accepted depending on how you nominate it ^^
I remember reviewing this one! I don’t remember what the title, second pic, or supporting info were, but I recognize this main picture. Given this limited information, I believe I rejected this (sorry!). Again, based only off the picture and description, I think I was thinking the pic could be better, the ducks are temporary decorations, and I just think it probably wasn’t “sold” to me well enough.
The pic isn’t terrible (I wouldn’t have rejected if that was my only issue), and I understand why you included the fence in front of it (Ranchero’s was the name of the restaurant right?) but it just kinda adds clutter to my eyes. Having a view with nothing blocking the fountain might be better in my opinion.
The ducks are a temporary decoration, and while they may have been there for the entire time the fountain has been there (which, by the description, was less than a month at the time I saw it), there’s no guarantee they’ll keep them there forever. While I don’t think they need to be removed for a picture or anything, I don’t think pointing them out in the description really adds anything to the nomination, and I have a vague memory of them being made into more of a focus of the nomination than I thought they should be.
Overall though, I think I was pretty on the fence with it, and different supporting information probably could have swayed my opinion. I think fountains can be eligible, but they’re not inherently auto accepts. I just don’t think I was sold enough on how this particular fountain met the criteria.
ETA: as @MegaTrainerRed said, the restaurant itself looks like it could be a great nomination if it’s not already a Wayspot. That balcony looks like an amazing place to hang out, have a drink, and get some food!
