Suspicious new wayspot popped up

Was looking around the city on the Wayfarer map and spotted a new wayspot that had a few things wrong with it.

Supposedly it’s a piece of wall art that was created on January 5th.

But I don’t know, it just looks off to me. Like it could be a picture manipulated by AI.

Either way, its location has been severely misplaced. You can see in the picture that it’s right next to a window that says “LA SCALA” and a sign for the Trekpleister drug store, and behind some benches on a large open square.

Which you can see are on the left side of that large building block on the map.

On the right side of that large building block, there’s nothing but parking spaces and the exit of an underground parking garage.

And yet the right side of the building is where the wayspot is located. Quite far from its actual location (if this artwork is even real and not AI). I’ve drawn an arrow that points towards the general area that the wayspot should be in.

So do with it what you will, Niantic folks. Move it to its proper spot, remove it, whatever.

If that is the full resolution photo, it isn’t triggering anything for this AI checker.

I’ll drive by there later today to check it out, but real or not, it’s still pretty severely misplaced.

I am interested to see if its real. I was thinking it would not be real. I wonder if I’m right!

Is this the same location?

Edit: It is.

It could definitely still be fake, even if the AI tool I used didn’t have a problem with it, for the record. Hope it isn’t.

Yeah, that’s it. So it is real. Just very misplaced. Nice find btw, saves me a detour.

I find wayspots being accepted like this very disappointing. It’s deliberately located in the wrong place to put the wayspot into an empty cell, since the actual location is not available for a pokestop (but would be for a wayspot).

The majority of reviewers then have to ignore the blatant abuse and go “I want another pokestop anyway”. (Or the submitter has to find a way to increase the number of reviewers who are happy to ignore the abuse.)

Surely enough reviewers would mark this as location abuse that it would get checked by Niantic

A reverse image search shows that it does exist, although I can’t vouch for the pin accuracy..
