Gone again this morning on Wayfarer, and submitted again… 6th time this month.
I juste named it “Croix du verger” this time, to keep track on what is deleted and what is accepted.
That’s honestly impressive.
Totally mind blowing, must be a bug somewhere, or …
Breaking news : The 6th one has been rejected (first time for this portal !) for “no pedestrian access”, as I suspected, although there IS a pedestrian access.
YES grass can be walked on, and NO, not everything has to be tarred or concreted… Grassy verges are way better for the planet anyway.
I sincerly hope you get your portal reinstated in a stable state, meaning not quantum
I had a to deal with the same before by ill driven “players” and i hope they what they deserve.
Awesome work of giving so much more details about roadside in France which are apparently impossible to comprehend for people with tunnel vision.
And the story continues, right before your amazed eyes, ladies and gentlemen: my appeal for the communal orchard has been accepted, and the 7th submission of the “Croix de mission 1967” portal has also been approved.
As a result, the appeal for the “Croix du verger” was rejected due to being a duplicate, even though it was submitted earlier.
To be continued…
I’m gonna get some popcorn to follow this story. Incredible !!!
It would be really nice to get an answer from Niantic about why it keeps being removed - from the number of acceptances that’s a clear indication that the review system believes this deserves to be a waypoint.
Thanks for the appeal, @saturnie. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire the Wayspot.
Interesting discussion
Pedestrian access is definitely an issue here.
That’s true. But this would be applicable only if the orchard in question is a public space. If it belongs to a person, it would become ineligible.
@saturnie can you provide any evidence suggesting that the orchard in question is a public place? If yes, we will be happy to reconsider.
Thanks,
Thank you. But actually the problem is not that it’s been deleted once, but that it’s been deleted many times, especially within the last few weeks !
There is either a major bug or malicious intent behind all of this.
The portal meets the Niantic criteria, as thoroughly explained above. Otherwise I’d like to know why the countless crosses in French villages are not all removed as well…
Hello, I can’t see why pedestrian access is a problem when there is a pedestrian access according to the Highway Code :
- a trapezoidal speed bump for pedestrian crossing,
- large grassy verges that pedestrians are required to use in order to not walk on the roadway, and that vehicles are prohibited from using precisely to ensure pedestrian safety
- a large platform at the base of the cross, with a culverted ditch to allow pedestrian access.
Additionally, the cross is accessible through the communal orchard, which is open to the public. As the name suggests, this orchard is owned by the municipality of Mouais. Here is proof of it :
So it is a public space, no doubt about it.
Here is also a 2019 municipal council resolution regarding the sale of apples from the communal orchard (item number 10 on the document), as the apple harvest was particularly abundant that year :

You mentioned that the Orchard is publically owned, can you show any proof of that to help get it reinstated and hopefully stop this cycle of removal/resubmission?
Edit: ah now I see your edit
So, your team recognizes that the Calvary Cross is on a communal plot with a culverted path and a crosswalk for access, but you - personally - override their decision because you are unsure who owns the adjacent plot?
And this reversal has happened seven times, now?
When do you plan to fix the system that enables this to happen? How about updating the criteria to demand this proof? This is not a high-speed roundabout.
You and your team decided in the opposite manner when a horse-racing billboard was placed next to a highway with no pedestrian access. You asserted that the race-track’s groundskeepers had sufficient access to the the billboard to keep the PoI alive, even though it was off-limits to the public.
Yeah, how this whole situation has been handled so far is absolutely laughable. I thought “the team” made all decisions together? Clearly not.
They did not say that.
I believe this is an assumption?
Thank you for the additional evidence. We have restored the Wayspot in question. You should see the changes reflected soon.
But will it actually stay this time?
We find out after whoever has the interest to report it over and over again does it again
Presumably Niantic can already see who has reported it so many times, and if it’s been different players, or the same player? (different accounts with different details and different behaviour ie not alts from the same person)
