That's a Wrap! - The Global Wayfarer Review Challenge is ending ahead of schedule

I sorry but this not good enough

You’re ending this challenge prematurely and think that we will be okay with this short notice

Look at it this way everyone, who’s struggled to make 300+ reviews has done that to have a chance of reaching 500 reviews

Many of us was asleep when this was posted and wakes up to a challenge that’s been wraped up

How can it be that you folks always have a shocked Pikachu face durig every single challenge?

I could only get like 36 submissions because of all the errors. I logged back in tonight to try to get the remaining 14 only to see that you ended the challenge early. Yes, you lowered the requirements to be included in the community rewards, but you also shortened the time frame and robbed people of the ability to be included in the rewards. With how poorly this was run, you should reward anyone who participated even if it was only 1 review. Beyond disappointed with how this went.

If we already got Remote Raid Pass 3, will we still get them or useless regular passes?

I was in the mid 30s when they pulled the plug. I was going to try to get 15 more tonight, but I guess I won’t bother wasting any more time now.

I don’t think that’s enough. With all the errors, anybody who completed a single review should qualify for the community rewards.

I got to 500 and I wouldn’t feel slapped in the face. If the challenge were still live and the system were functioning properly, anyone could start at 0 right now and reach 500 by the original end time.

Someone compared this to closing a store early. Well, if the store runs out of inventory, there is nothing else to do.

No. The event was not announced in a pop-up, until supplies last format. It was announced to take place within a clearly defined time period and between all the technical issues, that’s what we were keeping in mind in terms of meeting our goals. And, it’s not like it was about “getting in”. You already got the large part of my work, it’s just me that has been made the sucker with the early termination.

Just yesterday i put in 150+ reviews and i expected to do the same today even if it demanded a large effort. I just don’t get this lighthearted sociopathic attitude the admins here have towards leaving a trail of nastiness and disappointed people behind. Astounding.

Yes, if the store is out of stock, of course there is nothing to do.
But this global challenge is not just for specific countries.

Obviously, even when the global challenge was first held, I was told to change my hometown or bonus location to another country if there was nothing to review or if the loading was prolonged.
Then, there are still reviews in that country.
(I didn’t even understand that I should do this in the first place because of the language barrier.)

If you shut it down like this, you can’t help but think of it as a review for a specific country.

To be clear about the slow and disappointing reviews and lack of submissions for review, I think each country should be able to share information about the current review inventory at least.

There may be criticism about the lack of preparation, but this is because it was simply written in writing without figures.

I don’t think Tintino has made this decision, and I regret that I have to deliver information that is not pleasant, but I also think the current situation is enough to be criticized.

In addition, I don’t think we will release the list of the remaining reviews by country mentioned above.

Lastly, I hope you will prepare well to avoid such inadequate global challenges from next time.

Just as a mental exercise, one way to slap the userbase even harder would be to mess with the rewards after the event. If they can bend the terms in terms of the duration, why can’t they do that? This event needs to come with massive caps lock disclaimers in the future. Expect nothing and you’ll be happy if you get something :))

More than anything, it seems like the early termination served the people that were in the Western Hemisphere and tried to meet only the less work intensive global challenge goal. Yes, for them it makes a lot of sense to just pull the plug. Even the people that missed out probably were not that deep into the challenge in terms of hours invested.

But what about the people in Asia who were still gunning for 500+ and woke up without warning to a terminated challenge in the morning? I don’t blame the Taiwanese guy for cussing the moderators out, because this is probably how anyone in his situation would feel. I just didn’t do it, because it wouldn’t lead to anything constructive. But we had no warning, no way to prepare and no indication to do more reviews in the last 2 days. I personally probably put at least 10 hours into the challenge, if not more, working through the bogged down system over days, only to walk out with very similar rewards as someone who did 10 minutes on the first day. It doesn’t sit right with me to read explanations on why that is okay (not that there are many).

In addition, there are people right now putting in effort into reviews, because they don’t even know the challenge ended. Just an unmitigated disaster here.

I encouraged the community in my country to participate in the Wayfarer Global Challenge.
But it ended so abruptly… I was embarrassed..
I was baffled, but I shared with the community that the Wayfarer global challenge is early closed.

As you said, the challenge mark is missing from the main, but.. There will be people who don’t know if the challenge is over and continue to review it. Because it happened so suddenly. Maybe I didn’t check the announcement because the time difference is different from country to country.

As you said, you shouldn’t just criticize the middleman.
With the solution, the same thing doesn’t happen again next time.
Thank you for the nice words!

What a mess. The fact there still isnt a global queue, or a challenge queue to avoid needing to change locations is a joke.

I am currently ineligible to participate as I deleted my PGO account and started playing again at level 1, so I was just a spectator and did not participate in this event, but I was surprised at the poor event management by the team and ambassadors at this event.

I was also surprised that none of the staff or ambassadors could come up with a solution to this problem.

Perhaps changing the cell level setting for the highest priority search, the current location, to the maximum value would have prevented the latency problem until the global backlog was so small.

@NianticTintino we have a lot of local ingress players that got stuck inbetween 300 - 400 reviews and are pretty devastated that the challenge has been ended early when they were so close to the lowered limit for the OPR live medal tick.
I can see quite a few messages on this thread saying similar numbers.
Given all the issues with the reviews lagging and now the early finish, it may leave a nicer taste if the level was dropped further to 300. Could this please be considered :folded_hands:
I made it to just over 500 but it was a painful experience- I’m gutted for all the players I know that stuck it out all week and haven’t gotten enough

You find there will be many you have burnt bridges with.. to take away opportunity from the one community that does the reviews isn’t right.

Stopping the challenge ahead of time is not fair at all. I was at 300+ and still finding reviews.
Now I wake up and do dozens more, only to realize it doesn’t even count?
That’s completely unfair, I’ve spent hours to get that super radar, and I won’t get it because you changed the rules

Exactly my situation, you’re not alone  I’m already spreading word on this. I probably won’t get rewarded for my efforts, so now I will spread awareness. Realistically, if they offer decent rewards next time there will still be people lining up again, but they should at least be aware of the risks. Personally I don’t even need the super rocket radar that much, because one shadow legendary/pseudo-legendary when Giovanni comes around is enough for me. I just feel robbed of my effort and I don’t like it one bit.

Sweet works for me. Well done all

I did find the bouncing logo a few times. My own nominations have been sitting there for longer than this 24 hour embargo. So when I got a well done message I was surprised my nominatonsdid not move that quickly. I wonder if people moved countries or other areas and then the queue has built up again.hmmmmmm (Am in UK so hey who knows)

It is so good we did so well cleaning the system up. Am sure there will be many very happy game players with new waypoints in their games. Which will be totes.

For those who got over a thousand reveiws. How? And how can someone say I reviewed for 10 hours and only got 20 plus reviews then the next person says I got 2000 plus. Crazy.

Then the issue about not getting to something. Whatever happens in the numbers to be achieved some people will be un happy as they will not make it. Sad but true. If you want to stop reviewing go for it. That is your call. Personally it does not affect me as I did not do it for rewards. I did it because I want more nominations in games and better nominations. We are all driven by different things.

I guess the only thing to address it is - Let people know at the beginning that there is a chance that the terms of the game may change including length of time AND give a notice (say 12 hours) when the time is changing .

For these challenges. I would love to see a statistical breakdown of what they clicked most of. I am a nerd, so user behaviour intrigues me. I would create segments of numbers reviewed and see if there is a pattern in reviewing. And then compare against countries  and if differing segments accept or reject more or less etc etc

Again. A big thank you to everyone who participated and helped add more waypoints to the game… Excellent. Now carry on reviewing so my other nominations can get processed  hee hee

I’ve managed to review almost 300 yesterday and had one day left to finished. Now you’ve stopped it and I had count 396. Why stopping earlier and not just lowering the requirements? I still see many edits are available in review for me right now
