The one thing I would agree with the comments is the challenge ended early with little notification. Not saying it wasn’t warranted, but it would have been nice to have done a few more reviews today if I could.
This is just my two cents - This was my first challenge that i had taken
Initially there were no problems but given there was time i pushed completing the challenge to a later date i.e yesterday
I woke up and i was unable to review and i wasn’t getting any - While i understand it is frustrating and trust me it was for me as well (i was at 50 or so) and there were no reviews coming in
However the community was really proactive and helped out with locations where there were reviews pending - Huge kudos to that and i could cross 500
While i understand that many people are expressing displeasure on not being able to reach their target and i do agree this could’ve been done better (where in everyone could see where reviews were pending etc.) - but what i dont understand is why didn’t people proactively location hop for reviews … there was even a thread where people were posting in real time where the reviews were coming in
And honestly the challenge shouldn’t have closed early - This affected a lot of people in the eastern hemisphere where most were asleep (even i was surprised when i woke up to find challenge ended and shouldnt have been done) thank fking god i completed it yesterday
yeah, i struggled to find nominations after trying over several days, at different times, with most of my time just seeing the bouncing balloon. i must have changed my location 30 times and that didn’t really help either. i didn’t hit 40 and was just terribly frustrated by the entire challenge.
The challenge was for days slow and now with just a few more hours they cut it short the only thing that was succesful about this challenge was that your own nominations were flying through the system sadly that is also done now…
Perfectly put, this is exactly how it went. People in the East went to sleep with a backlog to wake up to a “wrapped” event, missing their goals. Didn’t make it easier that the termination was pretty much unannounced. Obviously if you were in America there was a softer landing in place, performance issues aside.
Great. I tried HARD to review, I had help from so many people because I struggled so much from this event:
I had to change my location roughly every 30 minutes and would be lucky to find 5 things to review
Constant lag and the balloon of doom
Unable to find poi to review
I spent more than several days battling this, it had been extremely slow since Saturday, for an event meant to last several more days at that point. I changed locations over Europe, the Americas, Oceana, Britain, Australia, Asia, actually stayed up two entire nights hoping the system was slower with less users so I had a chance at reviewing more.
Despite my best efforts I was hoping to spend today attempting to catch up, probably get frustrated at the system and scream into the void some more, and now I don’t even get the chance to try and get the badge tick!!!
How are we supposed to work with a system that doesn’t even work roughly 40% the way through the event? Because the rest of that 60% was spent barely sleeping, spending nights awake hoping for the best, and a system that works so poorly you’re forced to change locations every 30 minutes.
Anyway, pics showing how much FUN this event was.
I think that most of the above complaints can be solved with a Tire 3 on 300 instead of 400
Give us this last favor
Read and listen to us time Niantic
You are assuming this is the last challenge before the actual split. Granted that Ingress players cannot submit new stuff on Wayfarer, it doesn’t mean we won’t get another challenge.
I’m 110% sure that this is the last challenge that will add more portals to the Ingress map
Do you have inside knowledge? Can you tell us all the Niantic secrets?
Even I don’t know if this is the last challenge…
I just want to thank all that participated. thank you for your patience and endurance.
I am very disappointed (to say it in a calm and decent way). For me this is the end with Wayfarer.
I startet with Pokemon Go in 2016, started submitting as soon as it was possible.
Created an Ingress account in 2020 to have access to the intel to see if something would come online in Pogo.
Switched to Ingress in 2021. my stats in Wayfarer are like that:
- Wayspot submissions: 567
- Accepted submissions: 365
- Edits submitted: 1133
- Edits accepted: 823
concerning Reviews, i have to tell, that my main playing area is a super fast region (between hours and 2 weeks until approved/declined). But i see it as my plight to contribute, as i have an advantage from the system.
reviews done: 12081
agreements: 6184 (51.2%)
accepted: 4468 (i was too nice in the beginning)
rejected: 1436
duplicate: 280
upgrades: 102 used, 3 not used (and i wont’ as i do not submit in Pokemon Go anymore.
i wish you farewell. and keep exploring!
No insider knowledge but it’s common business sence
The IP games has been sold together with Wayfarer
Ingress and Peridot is under the cloud of Spatial
You don’t mix strips and spots
I want to say a special thank you to
@cyndiepooh, @DTrain2002, @P1dg3ySlayer, @frealafgb and @TjoeMi for always being around in the other threads on the forum and helping out
No rewards for me, due to the lag I could barely do Nominations.
Ah well, there’s always next time.
Well, I have been on here long enough to expect the unexpected. I am not going to rule out anything until it is the split takes place and there will be no final sync to Ingress.
Well, they ran out of stuff to review so it might be hard for them to do this again any time soon without running into the exact same problem but worse, since there’s presumably going to be even less backlog for future events. Then again, maybe they can generate fodder for future review events by doing more edit/photo submission challenges, but those aren’t currently available in Ingress.
I’m just glad I secured the bag early because I was paranoid. Originally planned on doing a bit more after reaching the goal but got the bouncing balloon and gave up.
I think the Ambassadors did a great job under tough circumstances. This was the first challenge of its kind. I hope that if something like this happens again in the future, we will all be better prepared.
You may not realise that some people may have submitted stuff during this event because they saw traction in nominations getting approved. So whilst the queue isn’t going to be as big as before the event, there may be new stuff people thought may get a look in.
Ooooh yes I’ll be best prepaired! Buy a flight to an island without internet
Nah… you’ll get internet connection because you’ll miss us!
