No you play with a bunch of people, there are even outdoor tables specifically designed for it.
It is not a pill to swallow, because the event had a clearly defined time period and users had to work within it. Naysaying after cutting the last day of the event wonât convince anyone. Itâs also not an argument based on the facts of the event, itâs just a random biased opinion. People were getting reviews in before the termination, check the locations thread.
Anyway, not surprising were getting provocateurs now, thread will be locked soon and criticism buried. Itâs just how it goes.
Nothing to see here. We are just having a lively discussion
spits out the tea but in all seriousness @elijustrying makes a valid point.
Just trying to provide the background here, which is based on facts. But I guess anything other than your view is biased anyways.
Well here we have a long thread of people voicing their complaints, I wonât bring up the arguments because theyâre all there, in my opinion most of them are very reasonable and politely presented. And then we have users coming in talking about, âwoah woah woah that was actually all your fault ur just mad because you didnt get rewardâ. Then the people that were engaging in a discussion actually get mad and then the discussion gets shut down. Itâs just not good faith.
To be clear there is no intention of locking this thread.
It is important that there is a space for people to provide comments.
I like this a lot. Thank you.
Just to be clear: the people you are instructing to do specific things in these posts are neither Niantic employees, nor people who run the challenge or stop it. I therefore doubt they can address your comments.
Hello,
First of all, thank you for your congratulations to the community.
Nevertheless, I note a negative point: you claim that the server latencies are due to a lack of submission to be noted, in this case, why ask for 230,000 reviews if there is not enough ?
Moreover, this is not the first time it has happened: by looking at a topic about the contest in some countries in May 2024, people were already complaining about server latencies.
I think itâs not serious that youâre not transparently assuming that you just didnât plan such a load on your servers for a global contestâŚ
Not sure about niantic thought but we will see
Checkmate.
(I have no idea how to play chess)
Tier 3 was achieved
I will also send an email straight to Niantic. If they extend the circle defence then so be it, but I donât like to be trampled. If they had let the event run its course with bouncing balloons through the last day I would have put it on myself, but they didnât, so I would like some answers.
I have avoided replying until now as I was 1 that with no planning and sheer luck I managed to hit target right at the beginning before the slowdown hit, didnât even have to move location until the last few.
I have skipped a large chunk of message from this morning but it seemed that it was âmy situation is shocking, Niantic must do somethingâ.
Many was already complaining how the reviews where running so extending this would just extended the problem.
Just giving everybody the top tier would not have been fair to those that struggled but managed to hit target.
Nothing Niantic did would have made everyone happy so I think the changes made where a compromise but probably the only 1 that could use.
The servers were already in trouble at 150,000, so this is not an excuse.
I am sure there were more than 230k submissions available to review. It is a case, at a guess, 230k was the threshold that worked for this challenge. Also, unlike other challenges, you could change your locations infinitely during the event. As the challenge went on, the number of nominations become harder to find. (Speculative point).
I think the number of reviews needed was dropped wasnt it, from a higher number? It does feel a bit like the top tier ended up set at how many reviews were available- ie by the time we hit it, the queue would be pretty much empty.
Maybe a better way to phrase a future challenge of this nature would be to have a target volume at which point the challenge ends, ie a race to 230k reviews, rather than a target to be exceeded?
That, or setting it at 200k target for the top tier rewards when there are 230k available in queue might avoid the âneedle in a haystackâ feeling at the end where it felt like hunting for reviews took more time than doing them
This would be a normal thing to say under any circumstance except the one being discussed in this thread. The whole point of this thread is that people that put in massive amounts of effort got bogged down because of reasons outside of their control. Does it really make you happy to beat your chest from the top of the mountain, just because you managed to beat the game by a very narrow edge in comparison to others? Itâs like saying, got kicked out of a PoGo raid because of game issues? No pass refund because I didnât. Got robbed? Tough break because I didnât. A lack of empathy until youâre in the same situation.
I only make 10 reviews it was so laggy That I only want to spend time today to make the 50 reviews, really thnx for nothing, this is the first time I donât even reach the 2nd individual tier, so I donât have any rewards bc you end the challenge early, this is a disaster and honestly the biggest disappointment of my years in wayfarer, I think this is my last challenge or review, only a lucky trinket could call my attention in the future, but a Giovanniâs radar⌠only worth to make the 50 reviews
