The ultimate goal was clearly not to gain personnel in-game awards, it was to minimize the backlog of ongoing nominations before the separation.
Frustration or not - we joint forces and helped out in a good manner to reach that goal.
The in-game rewards has also always been a discussion of being unfair for all the effort that has been made. Volunteers we are, and to gain any reward is just a bonus.
We have all been doing this for free and still contributed by nominating, reviewing, asking and answered, complained, celebratedā¦
Itās super clear that everyone who has had done this only for rewards are disappointed, all of you are deserving rewards according to me, all volunteers are independent of work, but by the nature you do it for free.
I salute you all, you are all my heroes who joint forces and helped the community with new wayspots out there, independent of game, upcoming split, bouncing balloons and so on.
The event ended because there wasnāt enough things left to review⦠I am not sure how re-running it would help, given we would still have the same issue.
I will have to disagree on this point given that the older last wayfarer challenges, the review was released in location batches without changing the bonus or current location. There is no recoding required in that case if that feature exists prior from before. (Just populate all instead of restricting by regions)
Overall the user experience for this event is frustrating for the majority and with the reduced time for the event, itās no surprised that those who are aiming for the personal rewards arenāt happy about this.
Given this is the decision by the team, most of us will have to move on with this but at the same time we will want things to improve for future challenges to prevent this similar occurrence again.
Since the backlog was cleared, an alternative idea might be for these review numbers to be bring forward to the next challenge instead as a form of gesture? (Just throwing out ideas but feel free to disagree)
By when would the rewards be available, itās already 24th and I havenāt received anything. Also, will the rewards automatically appear in my account or will there be a code? @NianticTintino
Hi and welcome, rewards are usually distributed in the form of codes received by email, and in terms of timing I think the main post answers your question:
I spent hours trying to reach 50, but i was stuck with the niantic logo, and only managed to review 25. Seems unfair that people who have tried their best to achive the required number of reviews dont get rewarded due to circumstances beyond our (the participants) control.
Also the fact that the cutoff announcement only gave 3 hours of notice, so a lot of people (myself included) missed the announcement before it was too late. Anyone planning on wrapping it up in the final day had virtually no recourse. I got to the 30s and just wanted the remote raid passes
I just want to mention this, if it wasnāt obvious. I posted my disappointment of how this went down previously. I dont generally post hereā¦at all really. But I went out of my way to let it be known to hopefully someone paying attention that, i was not happy with how this went down. I dont just post this for myself, me and each other person posting here probably represent a large percentage of people who feel the same way but didnāt go as far as attempting to seek out a way to make their feelings known.
Just for info, and I am sure you know this. The OPR Live Tick only applies to Ingress players. Itās not available for Pogo players. (Unless the powers that be tell us differently).
Yeah. I play both but more Ingress than Pogo. I like the OPR Live badge in Ingress since itās community driven activity similar to pogo. I do wish there was something within the pogo community similar but alas we are here.
From my perspective, OPR Live tick is probably the only community driven event challenge across platforms. Yes, thereās a recon badge in Ingress for completed and approved reviews, but this badge is specifically for supporting community events like this.
@NianticTintino
Could Niantic have done something to generate more nominations?
Answer: Yes! They would have thrown EMilyās (the bot) auto rejections into voting
I agree with this (OPR tick to community rewards tier) in lieu of the early cutoff. It is the only thing thatās not replaceable with in-game effort. If the Lucky Trinket was still on the table (unexplained glitchiness removed it), Iād say the same for that reward too. SR Radar has a time exclusivity gate, but historically often enough to appease the masses. SRR also got talked off in the first thread as not a suitable reward, so I donāt think that has the same justification. I think we all got an OPR Live experience like none other except in the first days of Operation Portal Recon when Wayfarer was that.
For a digital goods compensation, this is not tangible loss hold for Niantic to repair the reputation by putting some of these out under community goals. Lowering thresholds assumes reviewers chopped the work up on an even daily basis - we all know not 100% of the population works like this (ADD/ADHD being the top demographic.) Throwing it on top of a highly religiously recognized holiday weekend and to cut it short⦠Iād say for some people, it was a 3 day challenge⦠Thatās rough.
I personally do not agree with a redo. We would first need an OPR challenge to fill the backlog (over 200 of my edits from the last one resolved in this challenge) just to get something resembling a redo functionally. At that point, it is just the motions of how OPR Live flows work. Undoing the last week would cost server rent and bandwidth - thatās just not happening.
Iām thinking of a quote that I would replace one word for the situation, from Louis Rossmannās (public figure) friend whom he quotes frequently.
Yay I got a total of 3⦠which rewards me nothing. Every time I logged in to review it said āoops thatās completeā or the little balloon was bouncing around.
