Hiya @NianticAaron - thanks for your response. I see that you’re now saying that Boston has fewer reviewers. I’ve contested previously that this historically is due to us having no reviewers living in the ocean. However, I now feel like this is because local reviewers have quit.
When reviewing in Boston we were seeing an overwhelming number of reviews from places that were unlikely to be upgraded while we knew from others that they had local submissions in queue. Far too many nominations were likely to have been from the Upgrade Queue, and I posted about our dissatisfaction with this at the time.
While doing our initiative earlier in the year we were asking questions such as “How many people have nominations in queue?” and people would say “10, six days” and none of them would go into voting. While I realize that you cannot divulge internal workings of the Wayfarer system, I would be surprised if we did not have enough local reviewers to earn resolutions on nominations.
People genuinely got discouraged because of the complete and total lack of local nominations in the review queue. I don’t even bother submitting anymore after getting over 100 approvals last year, each of which required an Upgrade to be seen. I posted in the first post of this thread what I believe are detailed and thorough results of our effort and people’s Wayfarer experience, and I hope that you may take a look and see for yourself if these results reflect your internal data and whether or not these are the outcomes you’re seeking from the Wayfarer experience.
Further, I’m happy to review our results with you and elaborate further if this would be beneficial to the team. If the experience reported is something you folks think you can correct or has been corrected I may be able to put energy into leading another effort, but from my limited interactions with Wayfarer since June there hasn’t been any positive change. People lost their trust in Wayfarer.
Echoing what SPD said: Thank you all. However, I am of the opinion that the effort may be too late. Many people including myself simply no longer submit. ML has rejected too many POIs to want to resubmit, and will accept too many fake nominations from people.
I have reviewed nominations from throughout the metropolitan area and there didn’t appear to be one.
There absolutely was one within the city. We had too many people reviewing not to reach resolutions, but 90% of regional reviews were on the South Shore, in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, etc.
A solid 20% of our reviews have just been one person spamming illegitimate edits such as this one (“-- (Sign)”) and reports to Niantic to have their edits removed went unanswered.
I am seeing a LOT of Boston reviews so thats good. Maybe 60/40 home vs bonus? Much better than Morocco where I just never got to do more than 1 or 2 reviews per 100.
Not sure about the quality of some. Had a photo that looked so wierd I’m pretty sure it was from a car, dark, fuzzy and glare, some text that showed up in a different font (how is that possible?!), and a little free library which Im led to believe would have qualified as being on private property.
Some nice description additions though, lots of detail added so those were cool.
As long as its a Unicode character it should be able to be entered into the text box. There are various “Font generators” online so that text 𝒸𝒶𝓃 𝓁ℴℴ𝓀 𝓁𝒾𝓀ℯ 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈.
Yeah…the pictures from inside a car are REAL annoying. Either you can clearly tell its been takent through a window due to glare, off coloring, smudges, etc or they happen to get part of the car window frame or mirror in the photo just leaves me sitting there shaking my head going “Get out of your car!” Like seriously, just for a few minutes to take your pictures please! Lol
Have you seen any improvements of your nominations getting decisions now that some people have changed there bonus location in the last couple of days?
I’ve done about 50 bonus location reviews since changing it to boston and i would say 15 have been in boston or very close to it, about 10 have been in worcester, a couple in providence, about 5 in the areas between provicetown and sandwich, the rest have been around salem and gloucester.
I asked people in our Pokemon GO community to make POI submissions, but I have not personally done so. Only one of my edits from the edits challenge has been resolved. I have yet to hear if anyone has submitted or found resolutions.
Thanks a lot for such a detailed post. I’d be curious to hear what you mean by “very close to [Boston]” and wonder if you come across specifics.
Were they north or south of the highway? 128 is near the boarder of two cells. A year ago, I submitted a few nominations in Reading (just north of the highway), and they were resolved in about a month, while nominations in Stoneham, the next town to the south took years to resolve.
I am very interested to see if there is still a difference.
They were in waltham, lexington, newton, woburn and burlington I believe. I can remember 2 that I did this morning and they were in andover and lawrence
Thanks. Those are areas which come up quite frequently in reviewing. The areas that people rarely see are all within the city proper, usually labeled as Boston, South Boston, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, Hyde Park.
I did some reviewing yesterday and had the best luck receiving local nominations I had in years.
