With the prevalence of disc golf and how much its popularity has increased, it should get its own category besides golf course. there’s more disc golf courses where i live than golf courses, and it seems like an obvious thing to add.

The categories were not created by Wayfarer, but instead come from a 3rd party. Right now, the closest to a disc golf course in the categories is golf course.
Keep in mind that the categories aren’t really used for anything currently. Before Ingress split from Wayfarer, they didn’t even have categories to choose from, which many liked, since again, the categories really don’t have any impact right now.

To add to what @DTrain2002 has said a Disc golf course is treated like a golf course in terms of eligibility.
There is a criteria clarification that explains further.

It’s worth noting that the Categories don’t equal eligible/acceptable, which is a mistake many make.
