Tips for a local picnictable

Hello,

I am looking to add one of local picnictables as a wayspot as it is important to the community as they invite people to come sit with them to meet different kinds of people and has a great view along the farmlands.

Any advice is appreciated.

Do you think I can get this through the system? (Don’t have much knowledge about these picnictables)

I have been successful with picnic tables, so let me make some suggestions.

It would be easier if you showed a wider view of the area in your second picture. A single picnic table can be tough to sell as a picnic “area”. Are there other tables, nearby? Maybe a permanent grill? A scenic view? The only single picnic table that I have done was as an anchor for a scenic view (the fact that it was marked on Google maps as a “vista” helped). It definitely could be a good nomination but I’d need more context to decide.

These were some quick pictures I made of the table without any detail.

Unfortunately, this “lonely” picnictable doesn’t have much going for it. The great view over the farmlands with sometimes a great sunfall or sunrise and a local socialing point for the local community to have fun or have a grill with the local people is the only thing going for it. No official links are here to support it like much other things.

I could take a picture with a great view over the sunrise/sunfall to maybe sell it more as a viewpoint.

Let me know what you think, the advice you gave was defenitely helpfull, much appreaciated.

I think this will be all about a great picture. A nice angle on the bench, a sunset might well help.

You could make a feature out of it being on its own - it is THE place to gather chat and watch the sunset in peace and quiet.

Point out the worn grass that shows it is used.
Can it be seen on satelitte?

Thanks for the advice.

The picnic table is not visible on streetview as it is located behind a public area behind a row houses.

The picture is gonna be the most important as you suggested. Time to wait for a nice weather forecast😅

Should I maybe use a geotagged photo as the supporting picture to help with the lacking streetview?

It wouldn’t do any harm.
But not on satellite? It’s usually satellite I have to rely on for picnic tables

I see a very a little dot in the satilite view that could resemble the picnic table. But is hardly noticable.

Im defenitely gonna do the geotagged photo for supporting just in case.

Very hard case this is, but who knows the unthinkable might happen.

Edit: Don’t know why I didn’t do this before, but here are the coordinates: 51.833274, 4.308257

I recently had to ask for some help with picnic tables because I had some accepted and then had rejected appeals for very similar items. They were overturned on the forum and all accepted now.

I think your bench looks like its on a lovely llocation and it sounds like its on satellite.

Here’s a couple I submitted before, one is a single bench and the other was several benches of the style you have.

In a bad turn of events the picnictable disappeared today from the location😢. I hope it was just for some maintanence or something like that, but for the time being it has disappeared.

Even though this happened, I have still learnt so much from this topic and will defenitely help me in the future. Thank you to the Ambassadors who commented and @frealafgb.

Maybe 2 tables will return? :crossed_fingers:

I didn’t say anything since picnic tables have been so hit or miss. This was rejected both in community voting and on appeal. It is there on satellite view and has a concrete pad for setting up a grill.

I don’t know what else I was supposed to show.

Is it bad to think that “The picnic area is ineligible” reason felt…so short? Like I thought they would state a reason why this is ineligible like generic or not distinct, they just say “ineligible”?

It is a place for people to socialize, and you can’t really find anything else like this as I am checking google map.

This happened to me as well, and when I asked about it here, Aaron changed the appeal result to an accept.

Just to be absolutely certain. The photo’s I shared here, can I still use the pictures I shared in my first post? Or would that be third party photo now?

You can use them. There have been cases though where a search did turn up the forum post so it might get rejected and have to be appealed. If you can still edit the post, you might want to remove them. That is a great question.

I removed them just in case. The picnictable in question here was indeed for maintance removed. The locals said it should be back soon.

Yes, that happened to me, actually it was the appeals team that flagged my picture (that I used on this forum). Forum staff made sure it was taken care off.

Well, submitted it and upgraded it.

Unfortunately, the reviewers rejected it like most of the times.

Im gonna appeal tomorrow to hopefully get it accepted that way.

Got a pretty good picture I find myself😁
