I had submitted a nomination for a picnic table in my local park which was rejected by reviewers and subsequently on appeal. My understanding from Niantic’s clarification last year (which I included in the supporting evidence) was that this should be eligible as a good place to socialise?
I’ve included screenshots of the rejection and the nomination below.
Wayspot Title: Inchcolm Park Picnic Area
Location (lat/lon) : Inchcolm Park, South Queensferry, EH30 9NB (roughly 55.9863209, -3.4011725)
City: South Queensferry
Country: UK

Hello,
EDIT: Ignore everything in this comment, I was wrong lol
You can read the clarification on benches here: Seating Benches
There are basically 3 ways you can get picnic tables/benches approved.
It is a memorial dedicated to a notable public figure
It is artistic
It is an anchor for a scenic viewpoint
I’m with you, I could make an argument that picnic tables can be great places to socialize, but unfortunately, that’s the direction the Wayfarer team is taking. This table looks like it’s “just” a picnic table in a park, so it’s not eligible.
We just saw these appeal rejections overturned this morning.
I have just been having a discussion about submitting picnic areas and thought I would share this more widely.
Why are they so often rejected for being indistinct or temporary, when they have a concrete base and are visible on satellite?
Why do the appeals team say they are ineligible?
And why are some accepted easily?

Hopefully this one can also be given another look.

You forgot this clarification which I think is closer to what the nomination is:
Picnic areas are great places to be social! Note that a picnic area with a group of tables constitutes one nomination. However, not all picnic areas are eligible across the board. For example, a picnic table on single-family private residential property should not be accepted.

Picnic areas and tables that appear to be permanent, even if not bolted to the ground like those above, are great places for socialization.

Agree that this looks like a poor decision. It looks very similar to something I’ve had approved by the community too (in blue in the linked post)
I actually made a post earlier about picnic tables and how inconsistent the decisions are and my appeals were reversed

Please have a look at Picnic Areas .
This talks about picnic tables, which this is, as opposed to benches which is what you are talking about.
Picnic tables are generally acceptable. The appeal rejection is … odd.
