If that photo is from streetview, it’s good enough that I would believe the submission. Without that being visible from streetview, I would struggle.
There’s no way to distinguish between a genuine submitter who isn’t hiding anything but has found a pre-EIIR postbox facing the wrong way vs a fake submitter who has found an EIIR postbox facing the wrong way and is taking advantage.
A photosphere would help a little, as they are harder to fake than a single image, but they are difficult to create.
If you can provide the location of that postbox, I might be able to create a photosphere to assist with a resubmit (when I next find myself nearby, so not soon and wouldn’t be a special trip).
Streetview shows the postbox from the back but also shows the bollards, road sign, fence, trees , lamppost etc proving that the postbox shown in the image is at the location.
The /wayspot/ photos show a non-EIIR postbox. Nothing else does. You know you didn’t fake the wayspot photos, but reviewers don’t. I’ve come across faked postbox photos in review - right location, but the cypher has been replaced - and I expect a lot of other reviewers have.
Given that fake submissions, specifically of postboxes, are real, you have to think “how do I prove to a random person that this postbox is GR” and your own photos are not sufficient.
When I’m passing (not an area I’ve passed but close enough that I can probably make it happen at some point), I’ll drop a photosphere and take photos, but it’s your find and your submission
It helps and it clearly states the edit was done over 2 years ago, so unlikely to have been done solely for a fake wayspot. If you have surplus submission slots, worth a try, but how many reviewers read properly when they can’t find something on streetview?
I just think the “it could be fake” is a weak argument. It could be attached to the majority of nominations
I definately have submission slots as I don’t have any going through process at the moment. I am 1 of the few that think that “too many” is worse for the game than “too few” but understand it all depends on how you play the game…
This rare George VI pedestal postbox dates to the mid-20th century and features the monarch’s royal cypher, “GR VI.” Unlike modern postboxes, this cast-iron pedestal style is historically significant and increasingly rare in the UK. It remains in public use and stands as a preserved piece of Killamarsh’s civic heritage.
Supplemental Information:
This is a permanent, historically significant postbox located on the public pavement along Upperthorpe Road. It has safe pedestrian access and features the George VI royal emblem. As a unique heritage structure, it promotes exploration and appreciation of local history. Although it may not appear in current Street View, the exact location is accurate.
My views:
There are plenty of standard postboxes in my town that are already stops. This postbox truly is unique for this location and according to google, quite unique in general.
You got rejected by the AI review. Try to change up your text and photos, for example using a more close up one to include not as much other things other than the object you actually nominate in the title photo.
For UK post boxes in general, please see this thread:
Also, rule of thumb, what you see in the games never means that the stop in question was ever acceptable. The only thing to go by is the current criteria on the wayfarer website
Please do not resubmit this one. This is a E2R postbox and not a George VI Postbox. Your submission could (not will) be seen as abuse. I’m not in a position to call it as abuse, because I don’t know your other submission pattern / behaviour. But if you do sub this again, I hope the Wayfarer team take some action.
I would be careful with the nomination @ConnorB97 . Not ER. No evidence of historical importance. By claiming GR and saying that it ages to Mid 20th C is just plain wrong. No evidence of why rare. There is a claim of preservation with no evidence. There is a claim of heritage with no evidence. That google says important - with you guessed it no evidence.
Other Niantic and reviewers may call this a form of abuse. I would too as it seems a deliberate attempt. It would fall under Fake Nomination. AND will fall under "“Other types of abuse” by creating content that is not accurate ((Niantic Wayfarer))
Part of me thinks you had other reasons for posting this here.
