Unown-Inspired Street Graffiti Pillar – Local Artistic Landmark

So im new to this wayfarer and nominating stuff so this artwork from a neighboring barangay got declined 2 times i nominated it 1st one got rejected cause it said its in private property but its not i change the angle to show that it is beside the national highway in a government pillar so its very accessible but it still got denied but different reason its now no historical or cultural meaning when i explained it clearly that its already been years it was there and a widely recognized landmark in our place..its a rural place by the way..so my nomination goes something like this

The title is same on the top

This vivid red graffiti art, resembling stylized Unown characters from the Pokémon franchise, is painted on a public concrete utility pillar beside the barangay road. Though simple, it stands out as a distinctive form of urban expression that reflects local youth creativity. The symbols have remained untouched for years and are widely recognized by passersby, making it a notable part of the roadside landscape

As per support
-This graffiti artwork is painted on a publicly accessible roadside pillar, located along a government-maintained barangay road. It is not on private property and is clearly visible to pedestrians and commuters. The pillar serves no residential purpose and is part of local utility infrastructure. The graffiti itself has become a visual reference point in the area, appreciated for its uniqueness and cultural tie to the globally recognized Unown script, giving it value as a form of informal local art.

I think it fits all criteria need by niantic..so why keep getting declined?care to enlightened me or is just my community toxic

Welcome to the forum!

Please have a look at this clarification:

Vandalism is ineligible.

But isn’t it only become vandalism if the authority didnt approve it or didnt have their consent?cause this was given consent by the former barangay captain as a street art for the out of school youths way before but due to some reasons they stop that program but yah the creator of this is not well known/or just a kid at that time

Let me be blunt. This is not an art by any stretch of imagination. Please read the Wayspot guidelines or else you might end up getting a strike on your account.

Ok thanks how about this one?

Its a government building with 30 years in place why is it still got declined? I also included it in description

What were the description and the supporting text?

Is this the Philippines? I am going to tag @paulingzubat to help.

This colorful waiting shed has served as a public roadside shelter in Barangay Lumbo for nearly 30 years. Its vibrant red, yellow, and blue paint makes it a recognizable feature in the area, standing out against the backdrop of rice fields and open skies. It is used daily by residents, students, and travelers as a place to wait, rest, or take shelter — reflecting both community resilience and rural charm. Its presence continues to support safe, walkable travel and enrich the local landscape

-This is a publicly accessible and permanent structure located beside a government-maintained road in Barangay Lumbo. It is not within private residential property, and locals regularly use it while waiting for transport or walking along the road. The shed is built with concrete and steel, showing it was intentionally constructed for public use. The site has pedestrian access, is clearly visible in satellite imagery, and meets eligibility criteria as a safe, non-temporary landmark used by the community.

Yes..how’d u know?

the address on your screenshot. i was going to try to find what this is. it looks like a bus shelter to me, not a government building, but i am not familiar with that part of the world.

Its an everyday shelter when it rain or sun is too hot..as well as bus, jeepney and tricycle stop and if weather is nice like windy its an excellent spot to hangout and spend time cause its a rural place surrounded by rice farm so air is extremely pure

The problem this has is that it looks like a bus stop or equivalent, and therefore just infrastructure. If it is more than that and is a formal community meeting spot (which you haven’t evidenced), it would depend a lot on how reviewers perceive it.

I like the description - you have definitely made an effort to write something positive. Unfortunately, once a reviewer sees ‘shelter’ from the photo, your description supports that. As a shelter, it’s hard for it to meet criteria. “Somewhere to wait” is not sufficient to meet the ‘social’ criteria. Something being useful for people does not make it a POI.

Ok thanks for the tip..so this is also a no go?

As much as I like your narrative, the photo and the idea of the place, I just don’t think it meets criteria. Not as blatantly as the graffiti, which explicitly came up against the ‘no graffiti’ clarification.

I don’t know what existing pokestops and gyms are near you, but be careful not to base submissions on what is already in the game. Some things get through review but shouldn’t, and stick around until a player reports them. Other things got through because the criteria were different years ago.

To be eligible, a POI must meet either Social, Exercise or Exploration. See Niantic Wayfarer, Niantic Wayfarer and Niantic Wayfarer

Umm hi again got another one can u explain whats wrong for this one?

This official kilometer marker labeled “K33 M4” stands along the Jan-Mina-Pototan Road and signifies the 33rd kilometer point from Iloilo City. These distance markers are installed by the Philippine Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to assist travelers and drivers with navigation and orientation. It serves as both a local reference point and a recognizable roadside landmark.

This is a government-installed kilometer marker located on a public roadside along Jan-Mina-Pototan Road in Barangay Lumbo. It is safe to access, not on private property, and is visible to pedestrians and drivers. These markers are permanent infrastructure used across the Philippines for navigation, distance tracking, and orientation. This particular K33 M4 marker is anchored in place and has been part of the national road system for many years. It is easily verifiable on satellite view and meets eligibility as a distinct, fixed, and locatable object

This is again a street infrastructure and doesn’t meet any of the three eligibility criteria:
A place to socialize
A place to exercise
A place to explore

Eligibility criteria: must meet Social, Exploration or Exercise elements

Acceptance criteria: must be eligible, must be permanent and a real thing, must be accessible, must be accurate

It is easy to get confused between these when first starting out. This object meets the permanent and a real thing element, it may meet the accessibility element, but it doesn’t meet the eligiibility requirement. Please read the pages I linked above as these clearly explain the sort of POI you should be looking for.

A slight correction. The three eligibility criteria:

A great place to socialize
A great place to exercise
A great place to explore

Without the “great”, then almost /anything/ would meet criteria. /pedants corner/

i think this is an important distinction. so many people submit things where you can be social, exercise, or explore, but they are not a great place for it.

I don’t think we should be putting too much weight on the word great. Would you change your perspective if it said good or fantastic or super duper instead?
