I submitted a new photo of my local park after huge renovations have been done. The picture is of the same location, but from a slightly different angle and about 30 feet away to better show the features at the newly updated park (before it was JUST a basketball court, now there is a walking trail with parking and water fountains). I’m a little concerned folks might not even realize this is a photo of the same location and vote to decline the photo update. Is there a way to include context in waystop photo update submissions so I can explain why the area looks so different?
I would also like to update the waystop name because whoever submitted it spelled it incorrectly. It should be “Offutts Park” with two "t"s.
I dont like either photo for the waypoint since the original is a basketball court that would have been eligible on its own. While yours hmm… I do like yours a bit better since it seems like a natural meeting point at the park… it will probably struggle though and maybe require an appeal.
Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, I assumed this one was going to be a challenge. The park used to be just a single basketball court and a small playground set on opposite sides of a large field. They recently made changes to include a walking trail, picnic shelter, parking, etc., so the park finally feels like an actual park. I’ve been hard at work submitting POIs for the new updates to the park. There are several outdoor exercise stations spaced out around the walking trail, each one is the perfect distance apart for waystops, so if they all get approved, this will become a prime Pokemon Go / Pikmin Bloom spot!
Like I said, I did talk to the parks department about getting a sign. This is a memorial park so I suggested an informative plaque explaining the history and who the park is named in memory of, and hopefully they’ll really add that. They were open to the idea, and they loved it when I told them I was submitting waystops. I had to explain what those are, of course. lol
Anyway, I’m hopeful I can get this location properly represented in Niantic’s games! It’s a great little spot. So far two of my waystops have been approved.
I forgot to add that the wayspot isn’t even at the basketball court, it’s about 200 feet away from it. I intend to eventually submit the newly renovated basketball court and the pickleball court they are building as well when those are finished.
