May i ask for advice with getting a Pokestop updated?

Hi everyone. This is my first post here on the forum but I’ve been doing Wayfair submissions for a few years now.

I tried to get a current Pokestop updated recently but my submission was rejected. Tried to appeal the decision with more detailed information and that was still rejected.

The stop is for a local gas station that was bought out by another company late last year and the name was changed. It seems that Google Maps still states the previous companies name for the location and even their street view still reflects it.

I’ll admit, my photo submission for the stop is from a different angle of the building than what’s shown for the stop’s original image, along with not being at the angle I wanted to take of the building with how busy it was with customers that day.

Should I just get a photo identical to the original to show the name change on the building? Do you think that would help increase the chances of it being updated? Or is there any other info I should provide to help with this change? I just don’t want to tick off Wayfarer and get myself banned for being a pest lol.

I live in a rural town where there has been a lot of changes to businesses or local shops going out of business this past year, so there’s a lot of outdated Pokestops that my ocd wants to help fix.

“Updating” is typically reserved for murals or for the same thing getting a new look. If your OCD really compels you then you have to get that old pokestop removed and nominate it again since it is technically a new business.

Welcome to the forum.
Changing a waypoint from one business to a different business is considered repurposing and not allowed. Proper course of action is to have the waypoint removed and resubmit a new one… however, typically gas stations are not eligible, unless you can prove it somehow meets criteria.

Thank you so much for the help. It looks like I need to refresh myself with their rules and other information. I haven’t submitted a nomination or change for a couple years now, well minus a spelling error correction to one stop.

Hello and welcome,

On The Run is a chain of convenience stores/gas stations in Canada and the norther US, just to give some background. So, even if you do get this Wayspot removed due to the business name change, it might not be eligible since it’s a generic business.

However, if that picnic area is still around, that may be something to consider submitting. You may also want to take a look at this thread, since, yes, Wyoming can be pretty sparce, but it may help you find new Wayspots to nominate: Tips for Rural Nominators

I haven’t heard of this company before so thank you for the information and I’ll check out the link. Thankfully they left the picnic area alone when they did the changes. I think they only changed the signage and outside color scheme of the building.
