Urgent Request for Review & Restoration of Moved/Removed Wayspots (Ongoing Harassment Impact)

Hello Wayfarer Team,

I am writing this with a lot of concern and distress regarding multiple Wayspots in my area that have recently been moved or removed incorrectly. These changes are not only inaccurate in terms of real-world locations, but they have also directly impacted me and my fellow trainer’s gameplay and overall experience.

Affected Wayspots

1. Netaji Wall Mural

  • Original/Correct Location: 22.59393, 88.35858

  • Current (Moved) aprox Location: 22.593239, 88.359110

2. Buro_Shiv Mandir

  • Original/Correct Location: 22.593946, 88.358364

  • Current (Moved) aprox Location: 22.593566, 88.358365

3. Jewel and Dory Wall Art

  • Original/Correct Location: 22.593494, 88.358429

  • Current Status: Removed from Pokémon GO

Impact of These Changes

These edits have significantly altered the in-game map:

  • Buro_Shiv Mandir, which was previously a Gym, is no longer a Gym.

  • A new Gym (Ganpati Bappa Statue) has appeared in place.

  • Jewel and Dory Wall Art, which used to be a Gym, has been completely removed.

  • Netaji Wall Mural has been moved and is now a Gym at the incorrect location.

This has effectively removed accessible Gyms and PokéStops from near my residence, which were correctly placed earlier. See screenshot below of original locations

Personal Context (Important)

I would like to respectfully highlight that this situation is not isolated.

For quite some time now, I and my partner ( @GrindelJD9 ) have been facing repeated targeting and harassment from a small group of players in our area. These players operate multiple accounts (5+ each) and have consistently tried to disrupt our gameplay.

This recent incident feels like a continuation of that pattern — where valid Wayspots have been deliberately reported and moved/removed in a way that disproportionately affects us and other local players. It has made the game environment stressful and discouraging, instead of being something we enjoy.

While I understand that Wayfarer operates on community inputs, I genuinely feel that the system may have been misused here.

I am even attaching a screenshot (if permitted) showing how some individuals are celebrating these changes in group chats using inappropriate content (vulgar memes), which has been quite disheartening.

Mod Edit to remove inappropriate content

Verification & Support

  • The coordinates mentioned above represent the actual, real-world positions of these POIs.

  • See below the actual Location of the POI from Intel Map of Ingress.

  • Tagging Community Ambassadors @shshsingh and @MarshalTito07 who have visited this area and may be able to verify the accuracy of these locations.

Request

I sincerely request the Wayfarer Team to:

  1. Review the movement and removal of the listed Wayspots.

  2. Restore them to their correct, real-world locations wherever applicable.

  3. Reinstate removed POIs if they meet Gym eligibility criteria.

  4. Look into potential misuse of the Wayfarer system in this case.

This game has always been something my fellow local players and I enjoy together, and situations like this make it quite disheartening. I am hoping for a fair review and resolution so that the integrity of the map and the player experience can be preserved.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Best regards,
TrainerTicklu

I looked at the very first one listed, and the ‘moved to’ location of 22.593442,88.358995 appears correct. I can see it on Streetview.

Hello @trainerticklu

I realize it can be a shock to the system when the game board changes. Sometimes it’s due to abuse while at other times there are players that like to keep the map accurate. I have not yet examined the specific locations you have sited so not sure what is happening here (though @Tntnnbltn has checked the first and the correction seems appropriate…).

I wanted to address what to do if you feel there is abuse. Calling out players directly on the forum is never appropriate even if there is abuse. You should collect information and fill out the Abuse Form:

Hopefully this information helps you.

I have been actively playing Pokémon GO in this area for several years, and I am also a regular Ingress player. Because of this, I am very familiar with the local Wayspots, including the three PokéStops/Gyms/POIs that are mentioned in this post. I have personally seen and interacted with these locations many times, and they were originally placed at the correct and accurate real-world locations.

Recently, however, it appears that someone has intentionally moved these locations by misusing the location edit system. The Wayspots were previously correct, but now they have been relocated to incorrect positions.

In addition to this, the same group of players has been creating significant issues in the area. They appear to be using more than five accounts, which is already against the fair play guidelines. They also create accounts with offensive or inappropriate IGN (in-game names), many of which seem to be directed at harassing local players personally.

Based on the situation, it seems that the recent location edits were done as a form of revenge or harassment rather than to improve map accuracy. This misuse of the system affects the fairness of the game and the integrity of the Wayfarer system.

I respectfully request that these Wayspot locations be reviewed and restored to their original, correct positions, and that the misuse of multiple accounts and harassment through inappropriate IGNs be investigated.

@LetsRollGirl thanks for commenting, that’s why I have not shared any specific details about the harassment. I will make a separate report for the same.

The original poster has shared the locations that are of concern. There is no need to repeat the grievances unless there is additional evidence of where the correct location should be. This could include websites about the location, photos that include the location and other identifying items, gps photos, etc..

It does an appeal a disservice to focus on who made the changes.

Welcome to the forum.

The position of the portal in Ingress does not prove the position in real life. To make your best case for this appeal, you should provide better evidence that the current locations are wrong in real life. To be clear, I am not staff, just someone who has made this kind of appeal before.

Hello @trainerticklu
It is as @LetsRollGirl says better to keep the different elements separate.
This area is for appeals for restoration so your post needs to be based not on how and why they may have been moved/removed, but why the location that you state is the correct one.

As your first one has been looked at and does not appear to require moving you can concentrate on the others.
The normal advice is to provide geotagged photos - enough for each to determine location and that it does exist there. This is the e idence the team will need in order to consider your.case.

@Biswad2 @NcredibleHulk
It is always nice to see people posting for the first time. However in the appeals section in particular, unless you are going to provide some of the photos graphic evidence, the sort of posts of posts you are making are not going to help the case being made.
It needs to be solid evidence to be considered and not just statements by players or community ambassadors.
Any in game harassment needs to be channeled through Pokémon Go and is not something wayfarer can action.

Hi @trainerticklu ,

Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.

I’ve looked into the appealed Wayspots and can confirm that

  • Netaji Wall Mural: It is at the correct location. The previous location was incorrect.
  • Buro_Shiv Mandir: It is at the correct location. The previous location was incorrect.
  • Jewel and Dory Wall Art: The art does not exist at the location. Hence, the Wayspot has been removed.

Please note that trying to move Wayspots or submit Wayspots away from their real location is against our guidelines. Kindly ensure you review and adhere to the Wayspot contribution guidelines.

Regards,
