I recently submitted (and had approved) a memorial bench with a fantastic view of a prairie. It was, quite literally, the only seating bench along miles of wooded, meadow, prairie, and ravine trails. The bench itself was the standard metal style with a plaque that many of us are familiar with. I didn’t include the name and barely referenced the fact that it was a memorial bench (tbh I do feel like I should do a text edit to make reference the person it is dedicated to).
To reiterate, the only bench along miles of difficult terrain, viewpoint, not nominated as a memorial bench.
I don’t think I’d have focused so prominently on the seat & engraving. I may suggest doing both seats together and calling it a sitting area or plaza. Have you thought about that? I like that you explained the trail & park in the description, but I think you should have explained that particular location along the trail more.
It is not unusual to get a trail bench approved on a hiking trail in our parks so long as it is has a memorial sign. This denial is an outlier for this type of circumstance. They usually only get denied if there is no wording. The old niantic clarification for any trail signs/posts in parks seemed to be applied to a mem bench if on a trail. To me that is the logical approach for the spirit of the game.
Not getting back in the argument but just got Viewpoint to review. Not sure if identifying it or a screen grap would break rules but to describe..
Image taken behind bench.
View shows Nature Reserve and Hills / Mountains in the background.
It is Number 2 in the area but Number 1 is a good 300 metres away.
Title is “xxxx Viewpoint 2”
Description is about the View, not the bench.
Easy Accept for me.
The very next one is a Memorial Bench on a Trail. Main Image is the plaque, Title and description is regards the memorial, The only mention of the trail is in the supplement info. For me, this is an easy reject…
This is how community works. Sometime its was approved by local community that know more about its significance. Sometimes its rejected by someone from neighbouring country which know nothing about your location. Sometimes its rejected by someone who is in bad mood. Anyway its submitter job to provide its significance.with more supporting information you submit, it have more chance to be accepted. Sometimes it take more than one submission to get the same thing approved. You can appeal if you want or resubmit
