Wayfarer Account Ban Appeal

For context, I have a prior strike back then for making submission using googled images (my fault, but honest mistake as I genuinely didn’t know it was against TOS). Today, my wayfarer account has been banned for 30 days after receiving a second strike for (misplacing waypoint). I submitted an appeal and offered to send videos and pictures to prove the pin submission was not misplaced, as the location is not visible on google maps. I then received a generic email saying they concluded that
I violated the rule.

Anybody has any experience on this? I feel like I should be given a chance to at least prove or make a case that the waypoint nomination is not misplaced

We have seen some of these bans be overturned when evidence is presented. @TrungLatias is one I can think of who posted a video here to prove the location and got the punishment overturned.

Welcome to the forums

The generic email is one that was produced after a real person looked a your case, so you did get the chance to make a case that the waypoint nomination is not misplaced.

If you want to post the details here, you can get community advice for this wayspot. You would definitely need to include the wayspot coordinates, which are found in the initial wayspot receipt email underneath the photos, looking something like 36.34432, -2.27346

Hi @kkeyra, welcome to the Wayfarer Community forum. I have sent the relevant details. Please check my DM.

Thanks for sharing. One of the admins reached out in DMs, I offered to send a video from the street view until the waypoint but they said they have conclusive evidence that my pin is wrong. I asked again about providing a video but based on their reply it doesn’t seem like it would help. As someone with a ‘great’ rating in wayfinder and has helped added multiple spots for my local community, ngl this one hurts a bit more than I expected it to :joy: Oh well, it is what it is. I’m taking this as a sign to quit wayfarer :joy:

If you want sensible advice from the community, you need to provide the wayspot details including the location as I described above.

Oops responded before looking at the screenshots. nvm.

If I had video evidence, I would either send it in the DM or post it somewhere you can link it to the forum.

Forum members do not have access to see your nomination unless you share screenshots of it with us.

Sorry! I was reply to the admins DMs and didnt notice this reply. Although not sure if this would help, I have nothing to lose I guess :face_holding_back_tears:.

I placed this pin at the coordinates you gave. I can see why they believe this was misplaced. If you can take a video that includes both the thing you submitted and references that can be confirmed on street view, then you should.

I was just going to post this, even if the gazebo is there it appears those coordinates might be in someone’s yard?

Glimpsing through the trees, this appears to be way over here near the playground.

I moved the pin to where I believe I see this structure on satellite view for this screenshot.

And put it back where you submitted it for this one.

This very much appears to be a case of trying to pin something away from where it actually is in order to put it in an empty cell.

I so appreciate staff allowing us to explain about the S2 cells to help with frustration, but I do try to warn that they will not tolerate misusing that information.

yea the google street ends here. Okay I might try getting a video when I visit the area again. Thanks for the tips

It isn’t in a courtyard, the area is at the back of the houses, sort of a small park

While I do use s2 cell guide, I do not purposely move pins. I walk into the cell area and find a waypoint to be nominated there. I believe this waypoint is hidden from the google street view, and is not the same gazebo that is marked in your screenshot.

Just pointing out what it most likely looks like to staff and what you will need to prove. Good luck with the video!

Appreciate the help! Will try to get a video once I am in the area again. Hopefully it will be worth it :face_holding_back_tears:
