Hello everyone,
It’s my first post here so I hope I’m doing this right. I have been doing reviews for a few weeks now and ever since my second or third day my rating has been “Fair” while ideally I’d like it any bit higher for the medal in Pokémon GO.
I have only gotten 1 nomination rejected when I was voting, over 80 accepted, and over 300 total reviews on record. I have submitted 5 wayspots and 4 have been rejected and 2 are still in queue.
I have always been completely honest and I try to provide more details when I can. Is there anything I can do to improve my rating? I’m really trying my best here.
Welcome to the forum @CosmicMcRad ! I hope we can help.
Your own nominations have nothing to do with your reviewer rating.
What I usually tell new reviewers is to go slow. Take your time on each review, and don’t try to do too many reviews too quickly. Niantic has said that rating is based on agreements and disagreements, so when you don’t have a lot of things you have reviewed that have reached a decision yet, you can really be affected by each one.
Be sure to expand the tool tips on each section, really check the photos and maps views, and don’t be afraid to use “I don’t know” as an answer. We have about 100 skips right now, so you can skip ones you just aren’t certain about.
There is also a section here for Review Support to get other opinions on one you aren’t sure about. But a lot of Wayfarer is gray area where you have to use your best judgement, so you may not get 100% yes or no answers.
Thank you for the advice! I’m definitely slowing down now that I earned an upgrade, although I do try to do a few a day. I always use “I don’t know” because admittedly I am afraid of disqualifying a wayspot because I don’t have enough information. Thanks again!
Just to expand on this a bit. These mean that you denied one nomination, and consensus agreed with you and you got 1 agreement. Similarly you voted to accept 80 and got agreements for those. So the rest of the 219+ are either still in limbo, or you didn’t agree with the majority.
With a 80-1 ratio, to me it seems that you might be a little too liberal with your acceptances. Make sure you review the criteria and criteria clarifications. and ask a lot of questions here.
So, if you have gotten agreements on 81 reviews out of 300, this gives you an agreement percentage of 27%. You may need a higher agreement percentage before moving up to Good or Great. It may also be possible that some of the reviews you have done haven’t been decided upon, and are needing more reviews to see if you get an agreement or not.
So, yes, like others have said, slow down, take your time, use all the tools at your disposal (even those outside of Wayfarer), and review the criteria thoroughly.
Yes – it would be good if they added an “undecided” to the profile / ratings page.
“been doing reviews for a few weeks” … Where I am they tend to take 6 weeks + for a decision (when sent to voting).
Welcome @CosmicMcRad and I am thinking that maybe there are lots still to be decided. I am a newer reviewer too, and I have noticed that the numbers change whether you are reviewing or not. Residuals flowing in from previous …
Would like to add as always that assuming your rating is an “agreement percentage” based on your lifetime reviewed total where you are punished for things that are yet unresolved is speculation.
What does, however, definitely frequently happen is rating fluctuations for newer reviewers, where having an overall small total that is resolved could mean that you are more penalized for a relatively small number of disagrees. But overall I would like to stress that we only vaguely know that ratings are connected to agreements and disagreements, and don’t know overall how they work and what else they are tied to. What it does not involve for sure is your nominations and their outcomes.
I understand that you likely want to help everyone playing Niantic games but I also agree with Roli that it’s unlikely that everything you get in review these days is a strict accept and that this is likely to be the cause of your disagreements. Don’t hesitate to ask on here if you have any questions on how to apply the criteria you have been linked to to things you encounter in review!
Well i don’t know how the rating works but i started reviewing 2 weeks ago and my rating moved to “Great” when i had even more total / validated reviews than you so be patient.
Also, it doesn’t matter that much.
