Additional Information (if any):
I have been trying to get two defunct wayspots removed as - aside from the fact that they’re inaccessible to the public, surrounded by 2m high barbed wire fences and inside the boundary of an active high-speed race track with no public access - the actual items have been removed completely for several years. I have provided dozens of geotagged photos, videos, maps, articles and other links to show the positions now empty, the areas inaccessible and where the original items have been moved to - one of which is thousands of kilometres away. All of the information is easily verifiable.
Most importantly, I have also provided direct correspondence from the company to say that the items have been removed and to say where they have been removed to. These aren’t sponsored waypoints and have NEVER been openly accessible to the public (only as part of a now-defunct guided tour, which I’ve also provided evidence of). They should never have been waypoints to begin with. Not regarding any law or safety, they are not there anymore and by that fact alone should be removed as waypoints - that’s the standard.
What I get in response is as per the screenshot - their research the objects still exist so they request is denied. They’re right, the objects do exist no one is denying that. They just exist in completely different places in the world which has been proven via direct communication from the company, geotagged photos and several other methods.
This is a hill I’m quite clearly willing to die on as I’ve put a lot of time into this now. There is no research in the world that they can claim the objects are still there as they are categorically and undeniably not. It’s extremely frustrating that a copy and paste reply is the response to hours of trying to prove this.
Welcome to the forum @BlueMutiny
Out of curiosity, you say they’ve been moved. Are their new locations considered safely accessible and not somewhere that would otherwise disqualify them from being wayspots (such as single family private residential property)?
If so, it might be better to request a location edit for them through the help chat on the wayfarer website, and provide the relevant evidence there. I know they’ve been moved quite far from what you’ve said, but if they still exist, and their new locations are valid, then getting them moved would likely be a better option than having them removed.
The last time i gave them evidence that a location had moved, they moved the wayspot to the new location. In this case, you would get a rejection of your removal report. Have you looked for them at the new location? Would you mind providing that for us?
Hi Hank/cyndiepooh,
Both have been moved, one is currently an active and correct waypoint already (which I’ve provided evidence of to them, hence why this is even more frustrating), the other doesn’t appear to be a waypoint on campfire, however aside from the fact that it’s thousands of km away and on a different island, it seems more appropriate to me that it’s removed from its original location and if someone locally there wants it, they can submit it with up to date photos with its proper location and description (otherwise it’s a 10 year old photo in some trees, rather than a modern photo inside an indoor game arena/minigolf).
I do appreciate the suggestion though
Campfire doesn’t show all Wayspots. We can check for you using third party tools if you want to leave that location, but there is no need to respond to us regulars if you don’t want to.
I assume you are only interested in engagement from staff. I usually see them active on the forum around 10-12ish hours from now if you want to check back then.
That’s a fair point on campfire, if you’re willing to have a nosey, the exact address of the other one is 35 Arrenway Drive, Albany, Auckland (Game Over, a sister company of Highlands where they sent some of the Dino’s when Highland’s tour closed down).
It does not look like the Wayspot has been moved there.
Hello, @BlueMutiny! Due to insufficient evidence, we’re unable to remove the Wayspots in question. If you have additional evidence to share, like geotagged images or articles, please submit a new appeal with additional information, and we’ll take another look.
